This Wellness Wednesday is no (April Fools') joke! π
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is an antioxidant naturally produced in the body. Cells in the body use CoQ10 for growth and to make energy. As you age, CoQ10 levels get lower. People with heart disease or those who take medicines to lower cholesterol may have lower levels. Certain foods have CoQ10, but not usually enough to raise one's levels, which is where a supplement may come in handy!
Research shows CoQ10 may be beneficial for:
π Improving congestive heart failure symptoms, lowering blood pressure, and helping the recovery process after bypass and heart valve surgeries.
π Lowering cholesterol in people with diabetes and therefore lowering their heart disease risk.
π Reducing the severity, duration and frequency of migraine episodes.
π Improving how well the body performs during exercise.
π‘ FUN FACT: Coenzyme Q10 is a powerhouse nutrient present in every cell of your body, responsible for producing 95% of your body's energy!
As always, you should talk to your doctor before starting a new supplement. If you have any questions, stop by and chat with our knowledgeable pharmacy team!
