What a great day at Northland Pines Elementary!! ERES students, 4K-K, got a firsthand experience being emergency management personnel on Public Safety 911 for Kids Day. Eagle River Fire Department, Eagle River Police Department, Vilas County Sheriff's Office WI, Aspirus MedEvac all were there to have a fun learning day with the kids. Thank you Northland Pines School District for allowing us to come spend time with all of you!!

One round of rain and thunderstorms is exiting to the northeast early this evening. For the rest of the evening, some isolated showers and storms are forecast, not all locations will see rain or storms this evening. There is a small potential for any development to become severe with brief, heavy rain, hail, and gusty winds to 60 mph. After 1:00 AM a line of storms is expected to move in from the west. There is uncertainty with how well this will hold together as it moves east, with severe potential generally trending down by this time. However, isolated heavy rain and strong winds will be possible.

Although some of us received a little rain last night, today’s fire danger ranges from high to EXTREME. Vilas and Iron county are two of the counties that have a red flag warning. Tomorrow looks like it will be another day with very high to extreme conditions. PLEASE be vigilant and help us share the prevention messages!!!

Burning with an annual permit is suspended today and tomorrow in Marathon, Lincoln, Taylor, Oneida and Vilas counties. Special permits are authorized after inspection only in Marathon, Taylor and Lincoln counties with AFL approval and suspended in Oneida and Vilas.

A few more things to think about before ending your day... Keep an eye on the sky tonight. It's looking like we may be in for some weather starting around 8:00 PM. Even with the rain and the wet ground, please take note that BURNING PERMITS ARE SUSPENDED!! You may be tempted but just don't do it!

Just when I've begun to get myself together." Although we've had some nice weather days and we've started getting our yards and Spring chores together, here the weather comes again!! WJFW Newswatch 12 is showing 2 lines of storms that will eventually merge beginning around 4pm. It's important to keep an eye on today. Be sure to have your phone and apps set for alerts. Please be aware of flooding and where your safe places are in your home should they be needed.
