Do you need a Parenting Coordinator?

Parenting Coordination is a court-ordered method of alternative dispute resolution.

Parenting Coordinators help divorced or never-married co-parents make decisions in their children’s best interest. The purpose is to keep parents with high-conflict relationships from needing to return to court over details that may not be fully outlined in a parenting plan.

If parents cannot agree, Parenting Coordinators have the authority to render a decision after hearing input from both parents.

Parenting Coordinators do not make substantial changes to court-ordered parenting time or other legally determined issues such as child support. Parents always have the right to return to court if they disagree with a Parenting Coordinator decision.

A family court judge must appoint a Parenting Coordinator. You and your co-parent must obtain a court order, even if you agree to the appointment of a Parenting Coordinator.

Effective March 1, 2022 Eagle River Counseling will be using the following policy regarding masking in the office:

Wearing a mask is optional for anyone who has had the full recommended vaccination and booster doses for their age group:

For adults and minors ages 12 and up this is either one dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine and one booster dose of any vaccine OR two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine and one booster dose of any vaccine.

For children ages 5 – 12, this means two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.

All unvaccinated people over the age of 2 are required to wear an N95 or KN95 mask. These are provided in the office if you do not have one. Cloth masks and surgical masks are now found to be relatively infective to some virus variants.

I am fully vaccinated and boosted. I will be happy to wear a mask at any time someone requests I do so.

Per my office policy that I am closed for in-person appointments when the school district closes for poor road conditions, Eagle River Counseling is closed this afternoon. As of 11:00 am we have over a foot of unplowed snow at my house and it’s still coming down hard.

Appointments for today can be via telehealth or rescheduled for tomorrow.

After much consideration and consultation with several medical experts, Eagle River Counseling has decided that masks will be required for all in-person appointments regardless of vaccination status. This also applies to people in the waiting area. This decision is related to an increase in transmission rates in Anchorage and a change in CDC guidance this week. For those who cannot wear masks for a physical or mental health reason, telehealth is again being offered. Thank you for understanding.

Eagle River Counseling is open for in-person appointments. Telehealth is reserved for clients with particular health concerns that do not allow in-person visits due to COVID-19.

Summer office hours are M-Th 9:00am - 5:00 pm, and Friday mornings 9:00am - noon.

Currently, after 3:00 pm appointments are full, but I have immediate openings for school-age children, teens, and adults before 3:00.
