If these symptoms sound familiar, especially if you are a woman of childbearing age, you may have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, or POTS.

POTS is a condition where your heart beats too fast when you stand up from sitting or lying down because your body has trouble adjusting to being upright. It affects an estimated 1 to 3 million people in the United States, and while the majority are women, it can affect men, too.

POTS is a chronic condition and can be disruptive, but there are ways to manage your symptoms and improve your quality of life.

If you think you may have POTS, or if you’ve been diagnosed but aren’t sure what to do next, you don’t have to figure it out alone. Take the first step in managing your symptoms by setting up a Care Call with Treasure Valley Pelvic Health today: https://tvpelvichealth.com/schedule.

Cesarean sections, though quite common, make for quite a different recovery experience for the birthing parent. It takes longer to recover from a major abdominal surgery, and it's important to keep your body's stress response down by staying on top of pain relief in the first week.

We encourage pregnant parents to discuss with their providers before delivery how they can make a cesarean feel like a family-centered birth experience instead of a surgical procedure. Even when you're planning for a vaginal delivery, ask questions about gentle cesareans ahead of time — you never know when circumstances might shift the trajectory of your birth preferences.

Pelvic floor physical therapy can help you prepare your body for a cesarean (or vaginal) delivery ahead of labor. Our providers can also start providing cesarean recovery support in the weeks following your baby's birth.

Colon cancer screening should begin at age 45 for average risk adults. It's the No. 1 way to prevent colon cancer.

Pelvic floor physical therapy can help you prepare for and recover from colon cancer surgery. It helps by:

1. Preparing your body for surgery by strengthening muscles in and around the pelvic floor.

2. Restoring bowel control, improving constipation, reducing urgency, and adapting to new bowel patterns by building strength, coordination, and control after surgery.

3. Supporting s*xual health by addressing issues with erections, pain, weakness, or tension.

4. Improving your quality of life by reducing discomfort from chronic pain, sensitive nerves, and scarring through gentle manual techniques, stretching, and education.

Schedule a care call to learn how Treasure Valley Pelvic Health's providers can help you — whether you've just been diagnosed with CRC or have been dealing with symptoms from surgery for years: https://bit.ly/4uKftqH

• Intense cramps that don’t improve with over-the-counter pain meds
• Pain lasting before, during, and after your period
• Pelvic or lower back pain that lingers
• Pain while urinating or during bowel movements
• Ongoing bloating or abdominal discomfort

📝 Use an app or notebook to track your menstrual cycle. Make a note of any unusual symptoms, pain, or patterns.

🌬️ Intentionally using your diaphragm — the muscle that stretches across your ribcage, just below your lungs — for slow breaths can help calm your mind, soothe your nervous system, and relax your pelvic floor.

🧘 Pause scrolling and give it a try right now. Reflect on how you feel after three diaphragmatic breaths.

😌 Next time you're feeling stressed or tense, see how diaphragmatic breathing changes the sensations in your body.
