Therapists, Providers, Parents and members of our community - we urge you all to help us advocate for the rights of those children affected by the recent Medicaid changes above.
Many of you have likely heard that therapy providers were recently notified that therapy services for OT, ST, and PT funded by Medicaid will be capped at 20 visits per year, after which prior authorization for additional visits will be required.
This recent change is stressful and overwhelming for families who rely on therapy services to help their children gain skills to become more independent. With only 20 visits per year, which is less than 2 visits per month:
- children with special needs have a high likelihood of regressing in the skills they have worked so hard to build;
- their progress slows down and the gap between them and their peers widens;
- families face making impossible choices;
- and everyone is impacted.
We are encouraging families, caregivers, therapists, and providers to make their voices heard. This is our opportunity to advocate and to stand up for what is right, to advocate for medically necessary services for our most vulnerable population in Idaho.
We encourage everyone to call or email state legislators and the Governor's office to express your concerns.

Rehab at the Rotunda at the Idaho State Capitol on:
- Thursday, Jan 22nd
- 8:00-11:30 AM
- First floor of the Capitol in the rotunda
A similar authorization process has occurred in the past, and although these changes will add additional administrative steps and costs, the CTLC Team is committed to completing these authorization requests in a timely manner, proving medical necessity, and ensuring our children maintain access to the therapies they deserve and need throughout the year!
We thank our families for trusting in us to provide the best possible care for our kiddos and we will continue to advocate them!
