Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

Wishing all a safe and joyful 4th of July from the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office! 🎆

As we celebrate our nation’s independence, we encourage all members of our community to enjoy the holiday with care and safety in mind.

This time of year brings fun traditions—barbecues, fireworks, and family gatherings—but also increases the risk of preventable injuries and accidents.

Please take a moment to review these important safety tips to keep yourself and your loved ones safe:

🔥 Firework Safety
• Leave fireworks to trained professionals—homemade or backyard displays can be dangerous
• Never relight a “dud” firework
• Always supervise children around sparklers, which burn hotter than you may think
•Have a fire extinguisher available

🚗 Drive Responsibly
• Don’t drink and drive—plan for a sober ride home
• Watch for pedestrians, especially in neighborhoods with celebrations and fireworks displays

☀️ Stay Cool and Hydrated
• Drink plenty of water if you’re outdoors
• Use sunscreen and seek shade when needed
• Keep an eye on children and the elderly in extreme heat

I proudly stood alongside my fellow Montgomery County, PA row officers to raise the Juneteenth flag in honor of Freedom Day.

On June 19, 1865, freedom finally reached the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth is a powerful reminder that while freedom was delayed, it was never forgotten.

As Montgomery County Coroner, I am committed to serving all communities with dignity, equity, and respect.
