The Arc Alliance

The Arc Alliance The Arc Alliance supports individuals of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

We provide caring professional support and services, creating life-changing solutions for the individuals and families we serve. Families:
Families are at the heart of The Arc Alliance, Formerly The Arc of Montgomery, Berks & Bucks Counties. Serving more than 900 children in the Early Intervention program per year, 2,400 families who need advocacy services for a family member with a disability per year and with a membership of 1,500 and growing, The Arc Alliance works to better the lives of people with intellectual and other developmental needs. Community:
Founded in 1951, the organization has grown to become a major influence in the area. With the growing demand for services from surrounding counties, The Arc Alliance has worked diligently to expand its early intervention into Chester and Philadelphia counties.

📢 What Does It Mean to Be an Advocate?

Advocacy is using your voice and actions to create change. Whether you’re speaking up for yourself, a loved one, or the IDD community — your voice matters. 💙♾️

Anyone can be an advocate. It starts with listening, challenging stereotypes, supporting inclusive policies, and showing up for your community.

Small actions make a big impact. Let’s build a world where everyone is valued and included.

Thank you Governor Josh Shapiro for your proclamation declaring March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month!

Governor Josh Shapiro has issued a proclamation declaring March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month!

The proclamation reads, in part, “ whereas individuals with developmental disabilities are an integral part of our society, making meaningful contributions to our communities, workplaces, and culture…we must work together to raise awareness about the barriers faced by individuals with developmental disabilities, as well as the opportunities we must create for growth, inclusion, and empowerment through education, respect, and compassion.”

Join us in honoring Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month!

🚫 MYTH vs. FACT: IDD Edition ✅

🔹 MYTH: People with IDD can’t live independently.
✅ FACT: Many individuals with IDD live independently or with minimal support, working, volunteering, and contributing to their communities.

🔹 MYTH: IDD means someone can’t learn.
✅ FACT: People with IDD can learn and grow—sometimes, they just need different teaching methods or support.

🔹 MYTH: People with IDD can’t have meaningful relationships.
✅ FACT: Individuals with IDD build friendships, date, get married, and form strong social connections like anyone else. Healthy relationships and social inclusion are essential for all.

Let’s break down barriers and embrace the truth: People with IDD deserve respect, inclusion, and opportunity! 💙♾️
