❄️ Incoming Ice Storm: Protect Your Feet ❄️
As colder weather and icy conditions move into our area, it’s especially important for people with diabetes to take extra care of their feet.
✅ Keep feet warm – Cold temperatures can reduce circulation. Wear clean, dry socks and well-fitting shoes that allow room for warmth without pressure.
✅ Keep feet dry – Wet socks or shoes increase the risk of skin breakdown and infection. Change socks promptly if they become damp.
✅ Keep feet covered – Always wear shoes or slippers indoors and outdoors to protect against cold surfaces, slips, and injuries you may not feel right away.
✅ Check daily – Look for redness, cracks, blisters, or color changes, especially after being out in cold or wet conditions.
Your feet work hard for you—especially during winter weather. If you have questions about proper footwear, inserts, or foot protection during cold conditions, we’re here to help.
Stay warm, stay safe, and take care of your feet 💙
