This week's Local Look: Tacos Yazi in Conifer, tucked in with The Wicked Whisk Bakery.

I mean...what an elite combo! Breakfast burritos + baked goods in one stop? Yes please.

Perfect stop for locals or folks from 'down the hill' headed to the high-country!

I grabbed breakfast burritos with my 2-year-old (because motherhood + salsa before 9am is a vibe), and they were AMAZING. Fresh, flavorful, and made by people who clearly care about what they're serving.

And you know I'm going to zoom out for a second...

We talk a lot about labs. Symptoms. Sleep. Protein. Strength training.

But hormone health isn't just biochemistry. It's:
-Community
-Slowing down
-Sunshine in the parking lot
-Conversations with the owner
-Sharing bites of your burrito with your toddler
-Supporting the people who make your town feel like home

Small businesses are the heartbeat of communities.
And community matters for your health more than most people realize.

Connection lowers stress.
Lower stress supports metabolic health.
Metabolic health supports everything.

This is your reminder:
Health isn't just what's on your plate.
It's who you share it with.

Drop your favorite Conifer (or Colorado) local spot below….you know I'm always building my list.

We spend so much time asking or even misinforming women about the risks of hormone therapy...but almost no time talking about the risks of NOT treating hormone deficiency.

Low estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone aren't benign.
They impact bone health, cardiovascular risk, cognition, mood, metabolism, and quality of life.

In medicine, doing nothing is still a decision, and it has consequences.

The better question isn't
"Is HRT risky?"
It's: "Is not doing HRT risky?"

Save this. Share it. And start asking better questions.

Hormonal and metabolic dysfunction compounds over time.

Ignoring symptoms now doesn't make them disappear, it makes treatment harder later.

Early intervention isn't aggressive.
It's preventative medicine.

If you watched this whole series, you already know: You deserve better care.

Estrogen, progesterone, cortisol, and blood sugar all affect sleep architecture.

If your hormones or metabolism are off, melatonin alone won't fix it.

Sleep disruption is often a signal, not the problem itself.

Loss of estrogen and testosterone accelerates muscle loss in women.

Less muscle =
• worse blood sugar control
• slower metabolism
• higher long-term disease risk

Strength is not aesthetic.
It's metabolic protection.

Persistent exhaustion is not just being busy.

Common drivers include:
• cortisol dysfunction
• thyroid issues
• iron deficiency
• insulin resistance
• low s*x hormones

You're not lazy.
Your body is asking for help.

Birth control can suppress symptoms without fixing the root cause.

Many women don't realize something is wrong until they stop it, or years later when symptoms worsen.

Masking, is not treating.
Informed choices matter.

“Within range" simply means you're not an emergency.

It does NOT mean your hormones, thyroid, or metabolism are functioning optimally for your body.

You can feel awful and still be told everything looks “normal."

Both things can be true.

Cardiovascular disease is the #1 killer of women.
Untreated metabolic dysfunction (insulin resistance, visceral fat, chronic inflammation) drives that risk more than anything else.
Yet we're taught to fear hormones more than heart disease.
That disconnect costs lives.

MetabolicSyndrome

Perimenopause can begin in the mid-30s.

Long before periods change, symptoms show up:
• fatigue
• brain fog
• Sleep issues
• weight gain
• mood changes

Most women are told they're "too young."

They're not.

Awareness is power.
