Allergy season is coming! 🤧

Tree pollen will be flying around soon. The pollen is in the air before we even see leaves on the trees!

What can you do to help yourself?

• Eating foods like blueberries, apples, grapes, onions, broccoli, asparagus, and capers that have natural quercetin. Quercetin helps stabilize mast cells that release histamine and acts as a natural antihistamine.

•Citrus fruits and berries high in Vitamin C are helpful as Vitamin C is a natural antihistamine.

• Ginger and turmeric are anti inflammatory, which helps reduce histamine levels.

• Parsley, mint, oregano, and thyme contain Luteolin, another natural antihistamine.

• Pineapple contains bromelain, which reduces inflammation.

• Local honey may help desensitize the body to local pollen.

Supplements that can be helpful:

• Quercetin, which is a mast cell stabilizer and acts as a natural antihistamine.

• Turmeric, which is in curcumin, lowers inflammation, which helps decrease the histamine response, and helps with the absorption of quercetin when combined together.

• Bromelain, which helps reduce inflammation and is often combined with quercetin (Thorne’s quercetin complex has this in it).

• Vitamin C is a natural antihistamine,

You can order all of these at 15% off through our Thorne dispensary!

Ever go shopping in your own closet? 🛍️

It’s the best kind of shopping - costs you nothing!

Last Saturday I was looking for my wind breaker when I saw this light green jacket. I’d bought it on clearance probably four or five years ago. The style is a little fitted - it’s designed for being active.

After being prescribed prednisone repeatedly when the health issues started almost four years ago, I gained almost thirty pounds in a month, then gained five more.
The weight would not come off, no matter what I did.

This jacket hasn’t fit since then.
It’s been in my closet - I forgot about it.

I tried it on last Saturday.
It fits! 🎉
I wore it to the park. Might have had an extra spring in my step. 😉

I’m on a small dose of Tirzepatide, a GLP-1/GIP.
For me, it has lowered my inflammation systemically, it’s helped to heal my gut and liver, it quiets food noise, which makes it easier to make good choices, and it’s helped me to lose twenty pounds so far.

Peptides are synthetic versions of compounds found in our bodies. Many have been around for longer than you may realize. Tirzepatide is one of these.

You still need to make sure you’re getting enough protein and fiber and doing resistance training (Pilates counts!) so you can get your best results.

Interested in the Tirzepatide I use or another peptide?
Comment TIRZ and I’ll get you the information for the Telehealth group I go through!
They have doctors available to answer your questions.

I am not a medical professional and this is not medical advice. It’s my experience.

Want more help on your health journey?
I’m available for nutrition and GLP-1 wraparound care coaching.

Does meal prep seem overwhelming? 🤪

You’ve seen the photos and videos of people who are bringing their “A” meal prep game - the six different meals they made for the week, the containers neatly labeled and stacked, the bright, cheery social media post saying how easy it all was...

It’s not easy! Meal preparation requires thought, time, and work!

Life can get in the way of us preparing healthy meals. The same things that make it even more important to have good, healthy food choices ready to go can limit our time to make those meals. One of my nutrition coaching clients and I were strategizing last week while on an online session to help her and her family eat healthier while juggling work stress, a small person who isn’t sleeping great, and health issues.
I thought you all might appreciate some of the suggestions I made that she thought were helpful!

• When you’re cooking, make enough for 2-3 meal and freeze the extra. If you are going to be cooking anyway, it’s only a little more work to make more. Food gains histamine when it sits, even in the fridge. Histamine can set off issues like hives. It can also cause gut issues for some people. Freezing food stops it from gaining histamine. Make extra of whatever meal you are putting together and freeze it - you can pull it out and heat it up on another day and not have to make another meal from scratch!

It’s time I reintroduce myself! 👋😉

Stats:
• Peak Pilates Comprehensively certified instructor with almost fourteen years of teaching experience.
• Personal trainer since 2007 (NASM CES)
• I started as a Les Mills instructor in 2004 - been teaching fitness-related stuff for over twenty years. 😱

NEW!
• Certified Health and Wellness Coach: Check out Emerging Light Nutrition Coaching and please give the page a follow!

Community stuff:
• I am honored to be joining the board for the West Falls Center For The Arts! I also help coordinate two vendor shows a year for the Center. 💛
• I just concluded six years on the board for the Greater East Aurora Chamber of Commerce.
• I also volunteer with my church. ✝️

What does all this mean?
I’ve been working with humans in a teaching role for a long time. Prior to the wellness world I did outside sales and sales training and then had my own business as a software instructor.

As a Pilates instructor, I have worked with clients from 12-92 years old!

I’ve worked with teen athletes, active adults, and Buffalo Bills players.

I’ve worked with stroke survivors, people dealing with Parkinson’s, neuropathy, scoliosis, other back issues including fusions, cancer survivors and those going through treatment, folks dealing with fibromyalgia, and more.

Personally, I’ve been dealing with long covid and Round Up poisoning that has caused mast cell issues for almost four years.
This healing journey has taught me a LOT!

I’m excited to now be offering Nutrition Coaching sessions where I’m bringing my knowledge of food, supplements, and more to help you!
My specialties include weight loss, mast cell issues, peptides, and GLP-1 wraparound care.

I grew up in Hamburg, lived in North Buffalo in my twenties, moved to Indianapolis in 2002, moved back to WNY at the end of 2015, and opened Metamorphosis Pilates & Bodywork, Inc. in East Aurora in 2018.

Summary:
As an instructor, there’s not much that I can’t work with or around.
I’m here to help you on your wellness journey, however that works within what I do. ❤️

Feel free to message me or book a session!

Messaging with a nutrition client. 🗒️

Where do we start with a nutrition coaching session?
We start with what you’re currently eating, drinking, and with the supplements you’re currently taking.

Then we modify and add.
Sometimes we subtract or limit some items.
I’m a big fan of substitutions.
If we can find you a healthier alternative, you don’t feel deprived and you’ve taken a positive step!
We’ll also talk about what you realistically have time to prepare and options to fit your life.

There’s a lot to talk about, but we’ll take it step by step.
It’s a team approach that is customized to YOU. ❤️
