Our Story

Pryor Funeral Home was founded by J.W. Pryor in 1891, which makes it one of the oldest in the Kanawha Valley. Nestled quietly along the Kanawha River. Pryor Funeral Home has a rich history of service to West Virginia's Eastern Kanawha Valley. After Mr. Pryor's death, the funeral home was left to his only daughter, Ms. Bessie Pryor. In the 1970s, she sold the funeral home to Charles Basham and J. Russell Neptune. Richard Long then purchased the funeral home from Basham and Neptune during the 1980s. Today the funeral home is proudly managed by Phil Fraker and his staff. Pryor Funeral Home is dedicated to serving each family, like family. We offer traditional services, memorial services and cremations. Our goal is to memorialize each life with dignity. We understand that each life is unique, so each service that we provide will be unique too. Our professional staff will insure that every family can grieve and remember their loved one in a respectful manner. Come and tour our historic funeral home, and step back into history. Check out our museum, or simply have a cup of coffee with our friendly staff.
