Often people are overwhelmed with the idea of addressing their substance abuse issues because they do not know what to expect. We wanted to share a basic outline of what is considered the best practices for treatment.

1) If physical dependence exists, inpatient medical treatment is usually the first step. Alcohol detoxification is usually 5 to 7 days, benzodiazepines detoxification is usually 7-10 days, opioids detoxification is usually 7-10 days.

2) After medical detoxification people can step down to a partial day program which is usually 3-4 times a week for a few hours or be referred to another residential program for more stability and work on recovery skills in a group setting. These programs usually combine group and individual counselors and help make referrals for other services that may be needed. There is usually a medical professional at this location to help with prescriptions. Also, people can be referred to another residential program for more stability and work on recovery skills in a group setting,

3)After 2-3 months people may step down again and attend community meetings such as AA/NA/SMART Recovery programs. They also might find an outpatient provider to continue individual treatment with a counselor and/or medication professional.

👩‍👧‍👦 Empathic Parenting vs. Indulgent Parenting 👨‍👧‍👦

Finding the balance between understanding and spoiling is the key to raising compassionate, resilient children. 🌟

🤝 Empathic Parenting: Encouraging emotional intelligence and fostering empathy. It's about listening, validating feelings, and teaching problem-solving skills. Let's empower our kids to navigate life's challenges with grace and understanding. 💖✨

🍭 Indulgent Parenting: Showering with treats and avoiding conflict may feel good in the short term, but it can hinder long-term growth. Striking a balance between love and discipline helps our little ones become responsible, empathetic individuals. 🚀🌈

🌺 Let's Aim for Balance: Embrace the power of empathy while providing the necessary guidance. It's in these moments that our children learn to handle emotions, build resilience, and grow into compassionate beings. 🌱👶

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Remember, parenting is a journey: Embrace the lessons, celebrate the wins, and continue to nurture the beautiful souls we are raising. 💕👣 🚀🌟

A narcissist, in psychological terms, refers to an individual who has a personality disorder characterized by an excessive and inflated sense of self-importance, a constant need for admiration and attention, and a lack of empathy for others. Narcissists often have an exaggerated sense of their own abilities and achievements, and they may feel entitled to special treatment and privileges.
Some common traits and behaviors associated with narcissism include:
1. Grandiosity: A narcissist may have an exaggerated sense of self-worth and believe they are superior to others.
2. Need for admiration: They constantly seek validation and praise from others and may engage in attention-seeking behaviors.
3. Lack of empathy: Narcissists often struggle to understand or care about the feelings and needs of others.
4. Exploitation of others: They may manipulate and take advantage of others to meet their own needs and desires.
5. Sense of entitlement: Narcissists believe they deserve special treatment and may disregard the rights and boundaries of others.
6. Arrogance and superiority: They may display a condescending attitude towards others and believe they are always right.
7. Difficulty handling criticism: Narcissists often have a fragile self-esteem and may react defensively or aggressively when faced with criticism or rejection.

It's important to note that narcissism exists on a spectrum, ranging from mild to severe, and not all individuals who exhibit narcissistic traits have a diagnosed narcissistic personality disorder. However, when narcissistic traits are pervasive and negatively impact their relationships and functioning, it may be considered a personality disorder.
