Obituary Details for Denver Robert Zogg
Denver Robert Zogg, 98, of East Brunswick, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on August 11, 2025. Born on January 14, 1927, in New Brunswick and raised in Milltown, Denver was cherished for his quick wit, generous spirit, and deep devotion to his family.
Denver’s life was one of hard work, adventure, and curiosity about the world. As a young man, he proudly served in the Merchant Marines, traveling to far-off destinations such as Italy and Japan. Over the years, he wore many hats — farmer, butcher’s assistant, papermill worker — before joining Bristol Myers Squibb, where he specialized in refrigeration until his retirement. Whatever the job, Denver approached it with tireless dedication and pride.
He had a zest for life that shone through in countless ways. He loved the great outdoors, whether casting a fishing line or setting out on a hunting trip. He was a passionate boxing fan who followed the greats with enthusiasm, and a devoted WWE watcher who rarely missed a match. And when it came to food, Denver’s love knew no bounds — from hearty home-cooked favorites to unfamiliar dishes he’d never tried, he embraced every culinary experience, savoring not just the flavors but the company around the table.
Friends and family will also remember his wonderfully corny sense of humor — the kind that could make a whole room groan and laugh at the same time. His quick one-liners and playful teasing were part of his signature charm. Denver’s happiest moments were spent surrounded by family, whether at a noisy holiday dinner, telling stories on the porch, or simply sitting together over coffee. His family was his anchor, his pride, and his greatest joy, and he never let a day pass without making sure they knew how much they meant to him.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Antonetta Zogg (1991); his second wife, Margaret Zogg (2020); his daughter, Maureen Novello (2023); his son, Denver Robert Zogg Jr. (1994); and his sister, Emma Henderson (2018). He is survived by his brother, William Zogg; his daughter, EmmaLee Lurker, and her husband, Larry Lurker; his son-in-law, Vincent James Novello II; his grandchildren, Vincent James Novello III and Ashley Lurker; his granddaughter-in-law, Roseann Novello; his great-grandchildren, Vincent James Novello IV and Jillian Novello; and his great-great-grandchild, Jaxon Sachatelli.
A funeral service will be held at Rezem Funeral Home on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at Van Lieu Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
Denver’s life was rich in love, laughter, and the simple pleasures that make a life well-lived. His warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
