I would like to extend my congratulations to Mike Cragin, a friend and black belt aikido student of mine, on successfully completing his 200-hour yoga teacher training program. Mike will be instructing an all-levels yoga class during the early morning hours, and additional class schedules will be available on Shoshinyoga.com.

Here are 7 keys to yoga success. Please feel free to add to them.

1 - Use slow, controlled movement, be mindful of your body, little change, makes the difference, listen to your body

2 -  Control your breath, control your body, match your breath with your movement, slow down your breathing, take longer breaths in restorative poses 

3 - Engage your core

4 - Relax-it’s Yoga, slow down your breathing, release tension in commonly tense areas, Relax your mind.

5 - Make it work for you; do not just never others, focus on achieving the correct sensation in your body, modify as needed

6 - Accept that it’s a different kind of push. Relax into discomfort, Constantly refined your technique, tease your flexibility limits

7 - Build a practice. Set a manageable schedule for yourself. Do every routine the best you can on every given day.
