Here’s a simple, effective relaxation routine tailored for office workers to reduce stress, release tension, and improve focus:

Office Worker Relaxation Routine (10–15 minutes)

1. Deep Breathing (2 minutes)

Sit upright with feet flat on the floor.

Inhale deeply through your nose for 4 seconds, hold for 4, exhale through your mouth for 6.

Repeat slowly for 2 minutes.

2. Neck and Shoulder Rolls (2 minutes)

Gently roll your shoulders backward 5 times, then forward.

Tilt your head side to side, ear to shoulder, holding each side for 10 seconds.

Slowly turn your head left and right, holding each for 10 seconds.

3. Wrist and Hand Stretches (1 minute)

Extend one arm, palm out, and gently pull fingers back with the other hand.

Switch hands.

Shake out wrists and flex fingers open/closed 10 times.

4. Seated Spinal Twist (2 minutes)

While seated, place your right hand on your left knee and twist gently to the left.

Hold for 20–30 seconds. Switch sides.

Repeat once more each side.

5. Eye Relaxation (2 minutes)

Focus on a distant object (20 feet away) for 20 seconds.

Close eyes and gently massage around them in small circles.

Palming: Rub hands together, place them gently over closed eyes, breathe deeply.

6. Mini-Meditation (3–5 minutes)

Close your eyes or soften your gaze.

Focus on your breath or silently repeat a calming word like “peace” or “calm.”

If your mind wanders, gently bring it back to the breath.

Chair massage has a bunch of practical and therapeutic advantages, whether you’re offering it as a service or receiving it as a client. Here’s a breakdown of the key "benefits" especially relevant in workplace, event, or wellness settings:

🌟 Top Advantages of Chair Massage

1. Convenient and Accessible
- No need to undress, clients remain fully clothed.
- Can be done nearly anywhere (office, events, trade shows, studios).
- Quick setup: just a massage chair and a small space.

Perfect for high-traffic areas or pop-up wellness days.

2. Time-Efficient
- Sessions are usually 10–30 minutes.
- Ideal for busy people who can't commit to a full table massage.
- Great for workplaces, where staff can take a short break and return refreshed.

3. Targeted Relief
- Focuses on neck, shoulders, back, arms, and hands. Common areas of tension, especially from desk work or physical labor.
- Helps with:
- Muscle tension
- Headaches
- Stiffness
- Poor posture

🎯 Super effective for treating **tech neck** and **upper back tightness.

4. Boosts Circulation and Energy
- Clients often report feeling **more alert**, refreshed, and uplifted great for midday pick-me-ups.
- Can improve workplace morale and productivity.

5. Reduces Stress and Anxiety
- Even a short session can lower cortisol levels and calm the nervous system.
- Helps reduce symptoms of burnout, especially in fast-paced environments.

🧘‍♀️ Just 15 minutes can feel like a full reset.

6. Low Barrier to Entry
- Clients who may be nervous about full-body massage (or new to massage in general) are often more open to chair massage.
- Easier introduction to touch therapy and bodywork.

7. Cost-Effective Offering
- Typically lower cost per session for clients.

Offering massage therapy to your employees can have a big impact on morale — it's one of those benefits that people feel immediately and appreciate deeply. Here’s how it helps:

1. Shows You Genuinely Care
When you provide massage therapy, you're telling your team:

“Your well-being matters to us.”
It’s a meaningful gesture that goes beyond standard perks and taps into physical and mental health — something employees don’t forget.

2. Reduces Stress & Burnout
Massage decreases cortisol (the stress hormone) and boosts serotonin and dopamine, which help with mood regulation. That means your team walks away from a session feeling calmer, more balanced, and less anxious — even after a tough day.

3. Boosts Energy & Focus
A 15- or 30-minute massage can increase blood flow, improve circulation, and help clear brain fog. Employees return to work recharged, which improves focus, creativity, and productivity.

4. Relieves Physical Discomfort
Whether they're at a desk all day or on their feet, a lot of jobs cause tension in the neck, shoulders, and back. Massage eases that discomfort, making people feel better in their bodies — which translates to fewer complaints and less absenteeism.

5. Encourages a Positive Workplace Culture
Massage can become a part of a workplace wellness program that promotes self-care, work-life balance, and mutual respect. It adds to a culture where employees feel valued and taken care of, which often leads to stronger team morale and better retention.

6. It's a Talking Point (In a Good Way)
Employees tend to talk about awesome perks — and massage is a unique one. That buzz can boost internal pride and even help with recruiting by building a reputation as a great place to work.

If you're considering offering massage therapy, even once a month or quarterly, it can have a ripple effect on the workplace vibe. Want help setting up a program or thinking through the logistics? Reach out and we can help you develop a program for your team.

Scheduling corporate massage therapy is a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing employee wellness, reducing workplace stress, and increasing overall productivity. In today’s fast-paced work environment, prolonged desk time, tight deadlines, and high workloads can lead to physical tension, mental fatigue, and burnout. Incorporating massage therapy into the workplace provides employees with a valuable opportunity to relax, recharge, and maintain their physical well-being.

Studies have shown that regular massage therapy can reduce stress hormones, alleviate muscle tension, and enhance focus. By offering this benefit during work hours, companies demonstrate a commitment to employee health and foster a more positive, supportive work culture. Additionally, corporate massage programs can lead to decreased absenteeism, improved morale, and increased employee retention.

Ultimately, scheduling massage therapy sessions is an investment in the workforce—promoting a healthier, happier, and more engaged team. Reach out for more information on adding massage therapy as part of your wellness program for your employees.

We are looking to add 1 or 2 LMTs to our team. We currently have openings that are weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays in Grand Rapids and Kentwood. The hours are flexible, and the setting is corporate for Wednesdays and manufacturing for the Fridays. We are looking for a massage therapist that is more medically based, comfortable with a variety of settings, and is comfortable communicating with multiple team members, and able to make and explain treatment plans. The position is a mix of clinical and self pay. No insurance billing. The position has a competive base pay, along with percentage of self pay, and tips. For the right massage therapist this can be a great opportunity. It starts as a 1099, but there is the option of becoming an employee if that is your desire. There is also the option of covering for other LMTs and working events for additional income. We have a LMT going out on paternity leave so there will be extra hours available in April and May. If you are building a private practice this can be a great way to stabilize your income. Reach out to Robin through here or directly at Robin@focuscm.com
We are looking to start interviews immediately and fill the position quickly.
