🌟 Resident Spotlight: Fran Broderick 🌟
Fran Broderick was born in Rhode Island and spent much of her life in White Plains, NY, where she and her beloved husband, Ray, raised their three sons. A lifelong educator, Fran studied theater and communication in New York City and went on to teach for an incredible 45 years at Manhattan College and the College of Mount St. Vincent. During her career, she developed two college Communication Departments and internship programs that supported generations of students.
Fran also has a special passion for Japanese Noh Theater, which she admires for its beauty and spirituality, and she has published extensively on the subject. While she takes great pride in her teaching legacy, Fran is especially proud of the Donald R. Broderick Scholarship, established in memory of her son, which has provided financial support to students in need at Manhattan College for 39 years.
Her connection to Rhode Island runs deep — Fran has spent every summer at her family’s Narragansett beach house since she was just six months old and hasn’t missed a single one! Family is her greatest joy, including her six grandchildren and great-grandchild. She also enjoys reading, gardening, and staying active, and you’ll often see her out on daily walks with her trekking poles.
Here at Anchor Bay, Fran is a gracious, thoughtful, and genial presence who effortlessly puts others at ease. She enjoys our book group, Rummikub and Limoncello social clubs, as well as special dinners and musical events.
Fran’s sage advice to us all:
“Believe in God and enjoy life at every age. Embrace life with optimism and don’t be discouraged by setbacks.” 💫
We are so grateful to have Fran as part of our community ❤️
