Community Living of Rhode Island

Community Living of Rhode Island CLRI is a dynamic agency dedicated to supporting individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities .

We celebrate personal uniqueness and cultural diversity, offering personalized assistance that builds on individual strengths and abilities. Community Living of Rhode Island Inc., (CLRI) was founded in October 2001 by Chairman & CEO Joseph Onyejose, with his wife, President & CEO Mary Onyejose. With a combined two decades plus of working experiences in the State of Massachusetts with the adult population with developmental disabilities, we developed interest in serving a more diverse population of individuals with diverse abilities. In Massachusetts we spent several years supporting so many DMR and DMH Agencies with dependable staffing by utilizing our Staffing Agency that was formed in 1997. Our journey was born out of passion for humanity. When we relocated to Rhode Island in 1999, our burning desire to serve individuals with disabilities brought us in contact with Rhode Island Department of Mental Health Retardation and Hospitals (MHRH), now named the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilites, and Hospitals (BHDDH), that led the establishment of Community Living of Rhode Island, Inc. Since our formation, CLRI has become a beacon of support and opportunity for parents and family members of individuals with Developmental and Intellectual disabilities in addition to those with behavioral health needs. Our unique approach to support provision has brought peace of mind to many families, and full participation and community integration to the individuals we support. We accomplish these excellent supports through creativity, resourcefulness, commitment, and the “milk of human kindness.”

A look at our week 😊
This week was full of everyday wins and meaningful moments. We enjoyed a cooking class where we made meatball subs (and they were a hit!), went swimming, took care of grocery shopping and household chores, and spent time with friends out in the community.

We also made time to read, play games, and head to work. A steady, productive week that kept everyone active, engaged, and connected 💙
