SOMEONE CLOSEST TO YOU MAY BE STRUGGLING…

Depression is more than sadness.

Sometimes it looks like exhaustion.
Disconnection.
Lack of motivation.
Irritability.
Isolation.
Or simply trying to survive the day while carrying invisible weight.

And while healing is not linear, there are small things that can help you push them through the hard moments:

• Encourage them to out of the bed, even if it’s just to sit by a window
• Open the curtains and let light in
• Make sure they are drinking water and nourishing their body
• Play their favorite songs and sing to them
• Find a funny movie or comedy to watch
• Keep reaching out to them instead of disappearing
• Clean their common space and make it smell good
• Get them to commit to doing something they enjoy
• Encourage them to shower and put on clean clothing
• Be encouraging and don’t judge
• Let them know you love them and want to see them better
• Invite them to seek a therapist and get them connected

🚨 WE ARE HIRING 🚨

ARE YOU READY?! 🔥

Every baller needs a team. 💯

And THIS right here?
This is mine.

These are the Community Matters Angels. 😎

Instead of fighting crime, we’re out here fighting for:

✔️ Better mental health access
✔️ Stronger families
✔️ Healing in our communities

✔️ Spaces where people feel seen

This work requires:
Compassion.
Leadership.
Flexibility.
Strength.
And people who genuinely CARE.

Different personalities.
Different stories.

We laugh together.
Lead together.
Push through together.
And most importantly… we show up for the people we serve.

So yes, we’re growing.

Truth is:

I didn’t want him to see me cry😥

Sometimes isolation doesn’t look like being alone.

Sometimes it looks like hiding in plain sight.
Showing up… but not fully being seen.
Smiling… while silently struggling.
Withdrawing… because explaining your pain feels exhausting.

Isolation has a way of convincing people that they are safer alone.

But healing rarely happens in hiding.

You deserve spaces where you can be supported without pretending.
You deserve people who check on your heart, not just your performance.
You deserve the freedom to unmask.

Mental health matters.
Even for the strong ones.
Especially for the strong ones.
Call us to start your healing journey.

Anxiety loses some of its power when we stop running from it and start responding to it with intention.

Pause. Breathe. Name what you are feeling.

Here are a few healthy ways to manage anxiety when it begins to feel overwhelming:

• Take slow, deep breaths
• Ground yourself in the present moment
• Journal your thoughts instead of holding them in
• Move your body, even a short walk helps
• Reduce overstimulation and give yourself space to reset
• Challenge catastrophic thinking with facts
• Reach out to someone safe and supportive
• Practice rest without guilt
• Limit caffeine, doom scrolling, and constant noise
• Remind yourself: feelings are temporary, not permanent

Most importantly…
You do not have to navigate anxiety alone.

Healing is not about never feeling anxious.
It’s about learning how to support yourself through it.

We are not just breaking news…
We are the reason it keeps getting written.

For the SECOND time, Community Matters has been recognized at the Hartford HealthCare Heroes Awards for the quality of care and community impact we’ve made.

But let’s be clear this was never about the award.

✔️This is about the work.
✔️The families who needed support and found it.
✔️The children who deserved care and received it.
✔️The therapists who needed opportunity and became leaders.
✔️The community that deserved better and got it.

This is what happens when you stop playing small and start building with PURPOSE.

We didn’t come this far for recognition.
We came to shift what mental health care looks like in our communities.

ITS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH. Let’s continue to take care of ourselves…

Grief is a personal process no one can tell you how to feel or be. You show up when you can. You sit it out when you can’t. There is no pushing through. It’s just a “getting by today”. Sometimes it’s “getting by for the moment”. What ever your process is allow yourself the grace and space to JUST BE… I was reminded this morning that GOD’s LIGHT NEVER DIMS❤️🌹‼️
