History of the East Helena Cemetery
On January 9, and October 24, 1906, Gilman Riggs registered warranty deeds in Lewis and Clark County which platted the East Helena cemetery existing acreage. The cemetery has been sporadically maintained by a group of volunteers since its inception. In 2012, a handful of concerned people came together to form the East Helena Cemetery Association to ensure the cemetery remains a viable part of the East Helena community. All owners of lots in the East Helena cemetery are members of the East Helena Cemetery Association, and as such are entitled to attend all meetings, vote, and to hold office. There are four officers and four board members that manage the affairs of the Association and serve for two year staggered terms.
