✨ When Collaboration Becomes Magic ✨

Positive outcomes don’t happen by accident — they happen when professionals come together, build trust, and support families with open hearts. Last night, we were reminded just how powerful that collaboration can be.

We received a late call from a Munson employee asking if we could support a momma who was headed into a C-section alone. What an honor it was to show up for her. 💛

In just a short window of time, we were able to create a circle of support alongside an incredible team —
• A compassionate professional who made the initial call
• An OB with an open mind and a bubbly, welcoming personality
• An anesthesiologist willing to adjust from his usual routine
Together, we built trust quickly with this momma and supported her from the moment she walked into the hospital until her family arrived to meet their newest addition.

This experience was such a reminder that continuous doula support truly matters — and it was beautiful to have a medical team see, firsthand, the impact it can have in moments like these.

Thank you, Munson Traverse City, for the opportunity to serve, to collaborate, and to continue building positive relationships that lead to better outcomes for all families. 💛

🌿 Let’s talk about true, evidence-based informed consent.

Informed consent isn’t just a signature on a form — it’s a conversation, an understanding, and a right.

It means every person deserves to receive clear, honest, and evidence-based information about their care — including the risks, benefits, and alternatives of every option (and yes, even the choice to decline).

True informed consent honors the birthing person as the ultimate decision-maker in their care. It means slowing down enough to ensure understanding, respecting every question, and supporting every decision made from a place of knowledge — not pressure or fear.

And here’s the important part:
🩺 Both medical and non-medical professionals are responsible for upholding informed consent.
Whether you’re a doctor, nurse, midwife, doula, or support person — we all share the responsibility of protecting autonomy and promoting evidence-based, respectful care.
