Name the things that make you feel powerful. Do you feel particularly confident after belting out a love song in your car? How about when you try something new? When you check things off your to-do list? When you step out of a yoga class? Identifying empowering moments and actions is empowering! When we recognize what makes us feel good, we can consciously work to incorporate more of that into our daily lives. So, when do you feel strongest?

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. It’s estimated that more than 1 in 5 of us live with mental illness. Mental health = emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It’s how we think, feel, act, handle stress, and relate to others. If you notice someone showing signs of distress, like big changes in habits and activities, withdrawal from things once enjoyed, substance abuse, or low energy, offer help. Support and understanding are always healing. Call to schedule an appointment with one of our trained therapists — 517-258-0026.

They use toys as words, communicating their internal world and experience instead of verbalizing it, which they aren’t yet developmentally able to do. They build trust through play, reducing anxiety and fostering self-regulation.
