Seasonal transitions can increase anxiety - especially for people balancing work, caregiving, and shifting expectations.

That’s not weakness.
It’s nervous system response.

If this season feels overwhelming instead of energizing, you don’t have to navigate it alone. Starting therapy should feel manageable - not intimidating.

Our team was treated to a little extra appreciation for Social Work Month 💛 Because if anyone knows the importance of self-care—it’s social workers!

Each bag came with a note that truly says it all:

We hope this small bag of goodies brings a moment of rest, comfort, and appreciation…because the work you do matters more than words can capture.”

At Ellie Mental Health we’re celebrating Social Work Month by highlighting the incredible social workers who uplift, defend, and transform lives every day. Today, we’re proud to spotlight Jerry Parker Jr., LMSW.

Jerry is the kind of social worker who doesn’t just talk about change — he actively builds it. As a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) candidate at the University of Southern California, his work focuses on reducing family violence, decreasing incarceration rates, and addressing health disparities.

As an outpatient therapist at Ellie Mental Health, Jerry brings that same passion into the therapy room. With his MSW from USC and a deeply client-centered, empathic approach, he specializes in relationship and marital counseling, helping couples strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and grow together in healthier ways.

Beyond the therapy room, Jerry advocates for community resources that support vulnerable populations and uses his love of writing to spark meaningful conversations about social justice and the future of social work. He believes therapy is not just about healing individuals — it’s about creating a more equitable world.

We’re grateful for the compassion, leadership, and commitment he brings to our team and our community.

💙 Social Work Month 2026 is here! 💙

Social workers don’t just show up — they level up.

We are trained for years to do more than help individuals navigate hard moments. We work to uplift people, defend dignity, and transform systems so communities can thrive. In a year marked by rapid change in how we live, work, connect, and access care, social workers have continued to adapt, advocate, and lead with heart and grit.

At Ellie Mental Health – East Lansing, we are incredibly proud of our social workers who show up every day with compassion, expertise, and a deep commitment to making life better — not just for clients, but for families and communities as a whole.

This year’s theme says it perfectly:
✨ Uplift. Defend. Transform. ✨

And honestly? That’s social work in a nutshell.

Join us in celebrating Social Work Month and the people who make meaningful change possible — one relationship, one system, one brave step at a time.

💙
