✨ New Face, Who Dis? ✨

Say hello to our newest assistant, Ashiyana! 🦷

Ashiyana is currently a senior at Michigan State University and will be graduating in Spring 2027. She is in the process of applying to dental school and hopes to become a general/cosmetic dentist in the future!

We are so excited to have her as part of our Schaefer Dental East Lansing team. Help us give Ashiyana a warm welcome! 💙

So many of our patients and specialist offices have been asking how construction is going, so we wanted to give you a little sneak peek of what’s happening behind the scenes!

Everything is coming along nicely, and we are projected to move into the new space in June. Once that transition is complete, renovations on our current side of the office will begin as well.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding during this transition. Your support truly means so much to us, and we are excited to continue sharing this journey with you!

The more you know! 👨‍🏫🦷

You may have noticed we no longer use Lead Aprons during your routine x rays. As of February 2024, the American Dental Association (ADA) officially recommends discontinuing lead apron and thyroid collar use for dental X-rays on all patients. Modern, high-speed digital imaging technology and targeted beams have made radiation exposure negligibly low, rendering protective shielding unnecessary.

Hey, hey! It’s Admin Day! 🎉
Our admin team is the glue that holds everything together–keeping schedules full, days running smoothly, and the communication piece between our amazing patients and our clinical team.

Erica helps everything run seamlessly, both behind the scenes and up front. She keeps our schedule full and our team on top of their game by organizing team events, handling insurance (and advocating for our patients every step of the way), managing accounts, and helping us hit our goals. She’s also the one behind our social media, keeping us connected with our patients and community!

Fun fact: Erica has been in the dental field for over 10 years, starting as an assistant. She loves learning all things dental and stays busy outside of work with her two daughters.

Ashley is the friendly smile that welcomes you in and the final, "Enjoy the rest of your day!" She works hard verifying insurance for every patient, helps keep the schedule full ensuring our patients are being seen as soon as possible, and is always ready to jump in anywhere she's needed. Thank you for always being there for our patients and our team!

Fun fact: Ashley started in dental 9 years ago as an assistant, took time off to raise her now 4-year-old son, and previously worked as a pharmacy tech, firefighter, and paramedic. Caring for others is something she holds close to her heart.

Before she heads off on her next amazing adventure, we had to spotlight our last (but certainly not least) hygienist 💙

Meet Kelsee!

Kelsee and her husband, Matt, are proud fur parents who love to travel, especially with her next big adventure: a 2-week cruise to Spain! ✈️🚢

There’s not a day that goes by without Kelsee’s laughter filling the office. Whether she’s caring for patients, helping in steri, or jumping up front when needed, she truly does it all. Our office flows better (and laughs louder) because of her!

Fun fact: Kelsee is a jack of all trades. She’s trained in massage therapy, holds a cosmetology license, and has worked as a barber-she still even cuts Dr. Mackley and his kids’ hair! She chose dental hygiene to continue helping people feel confident while building a rewarding career.

Thank you, Kelsee, for everything you do-from your operatory, to steri, to the front desk… and even to the top of the Mackley family’s heads!

Meet Crystal!

Crystal and her husband, Austin, are expecting their first baby this summer, and to say we’re excited is an understatement! 🎀

She’s passionate about educating her patients and helping them achieve strong, healthy, beautiful smiles 😍😁 Even during last-minute cancellations, she’s always staying busy or jumping in to help her team.

Fun fact: Crystal became a dental hygienist to make a difference for families like hers. Growing up, her mom often put her children first, choosing their care over her own, even when it meant going without treatment herself. That experience continues to inspire Crystal’s passion for helping others ❤️

We’re so grateful for everything you do, Crystal, in the Lansing and East Lansing offices! ✨

If you haven’t had the chance to meet her yet, here she is with her boys!

Kiersten brings so much to our office from her dedication to her patients, to her attention to detail, to the genuine care she shows everyone she meets.

Fun fact: Kiersten said she had a whole list of reasons she chose hygiene, but it all started when she was just 9 years old and broke both of her front teeth. The care she received during that time left such an impression on her, she knew she wanted to provide that same kind of comfort and care to others one day.

And we’re so glad she did. 🦷✨
