North Star Critical Care

North Star Critical Care Providing 911 response throughout Columbiana County, Ohio. North Star Critical Care LLC is a private ambulance company, established in 2007.

The areas only locally owned and operated service. We are a primary 911 response service that provides Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support. We also provide a Mobile Intensive Care Unit for the critically ill or injured requiring transfer to higher level of care that the local hospitals are not equipped to provide. Our staff consists of EMT Basics, EMT Advanced, EMT Paramedics, and Registered Nurses. Our response areas are throughout Columbiana County. With primary response ( first call ) to St Clair Township - Calcutta and Glenmoor. We also provide ambulance standby for sporting events that help support our athletes in all the types of events that require EMS on site. North Star has a 24 hour / 7 day a week in-house dispatch center. This allows for a one call center and no delay in providing emergency services to the township residents.

With the recent wind storm we want to provide some tips with common medical concerns and questions we received for the community.

1. Oxygen delivery systems:
- have backup batteries and extra oxygen tanks. Monitor your levels and ensure oxygen tanks and batteries are functioning.
- alert local EMS/ 911 services if any reservoirs run low.

2. Medication Storage:
- refrigerated medications such as insulin and antibiotics are able to maintain a safe temperature for up to 4-6 hours.
Keep your refrigerator door closed as much as possible to avoid any rise in internal temperatures.

3. Heat/ Cold exposure:
- keep blankets and other warming items nearby for when temperatures drop.
- Ensure adequate air ventilation and circulation through windows or doors for warmer temperatures. οΏΌ
- Drink water to prevent any dehydration or other temperature related emergencies.

4. Please ensure a clear and direct pathway to any and all exits in case of emergency or safety concerns.

WHAT TO DO:
β€’ Remain in your cars and hand off the unwanted
medications to local law enforcement officers. No requests for
identification will be asked.
β€’ Medication may be kept in its original container or removed from
the container.
