Mental health is health. 🌎

On and every day, Mental Health America is committed to promoting mental health as a critical part of our well-being.

Physical and mental health are equally important and deeply connected. Things like sleep, stress, movement, nutrition, and existing health conditions all play a role in how we feel, both mentally and physically.

Trans Visibility Day isn’t just about being seen—it’s about survival, safety, and dignity. It’s about access to affirming mental health care, housing, community, and the right to exist without violence or erasure.

Black trans communities are navigating the compounded impact of racism, transphobia, medical neglect, and systemic harm—and still creating spaces of care, brilliance, and resistance.

Fighting for Black trans lives is mental health work. It’s harm reduction. It’s community care. It’s about building a world where healing isn’t a privilege, but a right.

Visibility without protection is not enough. We need resources. We need accountability. We need systems that support—not punish—people for being who they are.

Today and every day: protect Black trans lives. Fund them. Listen to them. Follow their leadership. 🏳️‍⚧️

The Okra Project is a Black Trans-led mutual aid collective working to ensure Black Trans and gender-expansive people have access to food, safe housing, transportation, and affirming mental health care.

In honor of Trans Day of Visibility, we're proud to award them a Black Wellness Innovation Grant.

Understanding Ketanji Brown Jackson's Dissent in Conversion Therapy Case
In her dissent, Justice Jackson warned that the ruling could have far-reaching and dangerous consequences. NASW agreed. “This decision directly contradicts the NASW Code of Ethics, which prioritizes client well-being, cultural competence, and the fight against oppression and discrimination,” the organization said in a statement. “Conversion therapy is not an ethical or evidence-based practice — it is harmful and damaging.”

When I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and given an antidepressant, I immediately felt one emotion: shame.

Many in our community are on the spectrum, we should understand and appreciate those differences. ❤️

Many in our community are on the spectrum, we should understand and appreciate those differences. ❤️

Autism looks different on everyone.

The differences may show up subtly or recognizably.

It looks like the child overwhelmed by bright lights and loud sounds in a grocery store, trying to stay regulated. The adult masking their needs just to get through a workday. The friend who communicates in their own way and feels deeply, even if it doesn’t always show in expected ways. And we can’t forget the parents and caregivers navigating therapies, school systems, and daily routines while carrying so much behind the scenes.

This April, BEAM is committed to seeing the full picture—recognizing the challenges, honoring every experience, and creating a community where everyone is supported and understood.

See Me. Understand Me. Include Me.
