Dear Families,

At Pediatric Services of Springfield, we value the trust and relationships we have built with our families and remain committed to providing safe, thoughtful, and evidence-based care for every child. We have recently instituted new office policies around vaccinations. To help alleviate some confusion, the two new policies are briefly summarized here.

For our existing patients and families: We want to acknowledge and respect the decisions you have made regarding your child’s care. If your child is currently following an alternative vaccination schedule or is not fully vaccinated, we will continue to honor your decision and maintain your care within our practice, provided that appropriate documentation (including vaccine refusal or delay forms) is on file.

To support the safety of all patients—especially infants and those who are medically vulnerable—certain office protocols may be required for children who are not fully vaccinated. These may include modified scheduling, arrival procedures, and infection control measures.

Updated Policy for New Patients: Beginning March 16, 2026, all new patients joining Pediatric Services of Springfield will be required to follow the immunization schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), unless a medical exemption is determined by the patient’s healthcare provider.

This policy is designed to ensure the safest possible environment for all children and families in our care.

We remain committed to open and respectful communication. If you have any questions about vaccines or how this policy applies to your family, please do not hesitate to speak with your provider. The full policies are visible on our website.

Thank you for the trust you place in us.

Sincerely, Providers at Pediatric Services of Springfield

Good Morning Friends-

We understand there has been some confusion regarding our new practice policy.

For our current patients, please know that you are NOT being dismissed or asked to leave the practice. However, we have implemented new procedures that include conditions for continued care and required safety protocols.

We ask that all families please visit our website at pediatricservices.org, click on the links at the top of the page or the “Vaccine Corner,” and review the Current Patient Non-Vaccinated Agreement.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to our office. Our team is here to help and provide clarification.

Hi Pediatric Services families 💙

Due to the snow storm headed our way, we’ll be switching to our “snow boots and hot cocoa” schedule on Monday, February 23!

Here’s the plan:

All in-office appointments for Monday have been canceled to keep our families and staff safe.

Our team will begin calling families Tuesday morning to reschedule.

Our providers will be available throughout the day to answer phone calls and offer TeleMed visits as appropriate.

Our Wilbraham office will be open from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM with a smaller (but mighty!) crew for sick visits only.

Your safety is our top priority, and we appreciate your flexibility as we navigate the snowy weather. If you have urgent concerns or would like to schedule a TeleMed visit, please give us a call — we’re here for you, even when it’s snowing sideways!

Stay safe and warm! ❄️💛

Important Update for Our Families:

With the recent changes to CDC recommendations, we want to share how this impacts our practice.

Our providers continue to follow the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended vaccine schedule for children. While the CDC offers broad public health guidance, we believe the AAP schedule remains the safest and most appropriate standard of care for pediatric patients.

As always, our priority is keeping your children healthy and protected. Please feel free to reach out to our office with any questions. 💙

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Over the past few years, we have seen an increase in urgent care visits among our patients, and we want to take a moment to remind you of the importance of having your child seen by their own pediatric doctors and nurse practitioners whenever possible—especially when they are sick.

At our practice, your child’s health and well-being are always our top priority. Our providers know your child. We understand their medical history, past illnesses, medications, and any ongoing concerns. This continuity of care allows us to fully evaluate what is happening, make informed decisions, and provide treatment that is tailored specifically to your child. When children are seen outside of our office, important details can sometimes be missed, and follow-up care may be delayed or fragmented.

We are here for you. Our office offers same-day sick appointments, and we strongly encourage you to call us first when your child is not feeling well. We have also made internal changes to improve scheduling and patient flow, and we expect wait times to continue to decrease as a result. Seeing your child in our office allows us to track patterns of illness, ensure proper follow-up, and partner with you in managing both short-term concerns and long-term health.

While urgent care centers can be helpful in certain situations, they do not replace the value of an ongoing relationship with your child’s primary pediatric care team. By seeing your child when they are sick, we can better understand what is happening, provide consistent care, and help keep your child healthy now and in the future.

Thank you for trusting us with your child’s care. Please remember—we are here, we are available, and we are happy to see your child when they need us.

Warm regards,
Pediatric Services of Springfield

✨ What a Year It’s Been! ✨

As we look back on this year, we’re feeling incredibly grateful. We welcomed three amazing new providers—Dr. Leavitt, Dr. Theriault, and Meaghan Baker, FNP—who have already made such a positive impact on our patients and team.

We weathered some unexpected challenges (yes, even a flood 💧), successfully transitioned to a new EMR and practice management system, and still found time to have fun with our spirit weeks, reminding us that teamwork and laughter go a long way.

Thank you to our staff, patients, and community for your support through it all. Here’s to growth, resilience, and an even brighter year ahead! 💙✨
