Extraordinary outings are excursions that are above and beyond regular daily programming. At East Village Place we ventured out to Haviland Pond and tried our skills at kayaking. Emily Perkins, Executive Director and Justin Melbourne, Resident Care Director, brought their kayaks and paddle board for the residents to use. Some folks kayaked and others watched and cheered from shore. Many of the spectators voiced that they were definately going to try kayaking next year after they saw how much fun was had. Looks like this will become an annual event!!!

We kicked off National Assisted Living Week with big smiles and even bigger adventures! 🎉 This year’s theme, Ageless Adventure, was the perfect way to celebrate the fun, friendships, and unforgettable moments we’re sharing — starting with Axe Throwing and Apple Crisp, sponsored by our neighbors Care One at Redstone!

This past week, we proudly celebrated National Assisted Living Week® and its theme, “Ageless Adventure.” At East Village Place, our assisted living neighborhood is so much more than just a place to live – it's where caregivers, residents, families, and the local community come together as an extended family.

We are deeply grateful for our compassionate associates and the vital role they play in creating a vibrant community where people flourish. It is profoundly inspiring to witness these heartfelt connections where joy, friendship, and wisdom is shared across generations.

We opened National Assisted Living week with The Agawam Melody Band performing outside to celebrate Grandparents Day !

Summer has been a great way to try out all the nearby ice cream places. We recently enjoyed a trip to Collins Creamery in Enfield, CT. So many flavors to choose from, a scenic location and a chance to get silly with the animal photo shoot!

We all enjoyed a little friendly competition playin corn hole. It is a popular activity and many of the folks are quite good at it!

The watermark University Class, "Chef's Table" featured whoopie pies. Rossana Chum, our nurse and guest demonstrator, shows us how easy they are to make and we found that they are even better to eat!

East Village Place Life Enrichment Department is always on the hunt for new fun and exciting programs. Pictured here is what we call the human slot machine! It was so much fun. We had a lot of laughs.

August 26th, East Village Place hosted a professional jewelry evaluation by Stephen Allen Jewelers. Folks were encouraged to bring gold, silver and diamond jewelry to be valued and have the option to sell to the jewelers and be paid on the spot. Refreshments were served while the valuations were being done. A tour culminated with the opportunity to enter a raffle for a beautiful necklace/brooch with a retail value of over $1450. It was a huge success and we will be sure to plan another evaluation event again.

We were so happy to celebrate Julian Zawacki's 98th birthday on July 19th. He continues to stay active by going outside on nice days, attending most Watermark University classes and enjoying his favorite activity, using the Virtual Reality headset!

Watermark University Class cooking demonstration. Judy Gagnon, Community Life Director, took us through the steps on how to make a fruit pizza. There is nothing better tasting when fruit is in the height of its season. Most folks were amazed at how easy it was to make and how delicious it turned out.

Strike up some fun! At East Village Place, we rolled into National Bowling Day on August 9th with a day full of strikes, spares, and plenty of laughter. Our residents enjoyed a friendly Wii bowling tournament, complete with cheering squads and playful competition. 🎳
