We are approved early intervention providers according to the requirements of the NYS Department of Health.

When your little one is holding a book, flipping pages, and pointing at pictures, they are hitting some major developmental milestones:

✋ Fine Motor Control: Grasping the edge of a page and turning it with precision is a complex motor skill that builds strength for handwriting later on.
👀 Visual Tracking: Following the pictures from left to right teaches the eye movements necessary for reading.
🧠 Cognitive Mapping: Identifying a picture (e.g., “Dog!”) and connecting it to the concept of a real animal is the foundation of vocabulary and language development.

Don’t worry if they aren’t “reading” yet. Just by letting them hold the book and explore the pictures, you are setting the stage for literacy.

To most, it’s just play—but to an OT or PT, the climbing wall is the ultimate outdoor clinic! Here’s why we love seeing your kiddos reach for the top:

The PT Perks: Strength & Coordination
• Total Body Power: Pushing against gravity builds a rock-solid core and leg strength.
• Motor Planning: It’s a physical puzzle! Kids have to plan exactly where their hands and feet go next.
• Balance: Shifting weight on vertical surfaces builds amazing stability.

The OT Perks: Sensory & Fine Motor
• Heavy Work: Pulling their own body weight provides “proprioceptive input,” which helps calm and ground the nervous system.
• Grip Strength: Holding onto those rungs builds the hand muscles needed for writing and zipping coats!
• Confidence: Overcoming a physical challenge is the best way to boost self-esteem.

Therapist Tip: If they’re nervous, start with just two rungs! It’s about the effort, not the altitude
