Our team and residents kicked off Halloween Week with mismatch, backwards, and crazy outfits — because who says Mondays can’t be fun?! 😄

From heart prints and wild patterns to silly hats and bright colors, everyone brought their best wacky spirit! 💕🧙‍♀️🧡

Her beautiful smile, kind heart, and amazing hugs make every day brighter here at Serenity!

Today we celebrated her with lots of love, and we had to share a picture of her with her gorgeous bouquet of flowers from her daughter — such a special touch for a truly special lady.

We are so lucky to have Joyce in our Serenity family — cheers to another year filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments!

💙 Celebrating Nurses Week at Serenity! 💙

This week, we proudly honor not only the amazing nurses on our team—but also the remarkable nurses who once devoted their lives to caring for others and now call Serenity home. 🩺💐

Today, we had the special privilege of celebrating one of our very own residents—a proud retired nurse—who spent her career making a lasting difference in the lives of so many. 💖

Thank you for your years of service, compassion, and unwavering dedication to the nursing profession. Your legacy continues to inspire us all.

🌟 Nurses Week Spotlight: Brittany Maskel, Health and Wellness Director 🌟

This Nurses Week, we’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on the heart of Serenity Assisted Living and Memory Care – our incredible Health and Wellness Director, Brittany Maskel! 💙

💬 What inspired you to become a nurse?
“Watching nurses in the emergency room not only provide physical care, but emotional support, truly inspired me. They made a difference – and I wanted to do the same.”

🩺 How long have you worked in healthcare?
“With over 15 years in the field, I’ve done everything from DPS work and patient registration to private caregiving – but nursing is by far my favorite.”

🏡 What do you love most about working at Serenity?
“I cherish every single resident. Their stories, their warmth, and even their playful accountability when I miss a day – it’s a privilege to be a part of their lives.”

🌅 A moment that made a lasting impact?
“There’s a resident who waits every morning at her window to wave as I arrive. If I’m late and we miss our wave, I definitely hear about it. It's those little moments that mean the most.”

🗣 Advice to future nurses:
“You must truly care – physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Stay open-minded and never lose your passion.”

👩‍⚕️ How does your team go above and beyond?
“My team is the backbone of our care. Their compassion, flexibility, and the strong bonds they form with residents are nothing short of amazing. They treat our residents like family – and it shows every day.”

🌿 How do you care for yourself?
“I recharge with family time, games, gardening, crafts, and fishing. I occasionally go to the gym, but I’m not sure the soreness is worth it!”

😄 Fun fact:
“If I eat too much, I hiccup loudly – and apparently sound like an old-school bike horn 🚲🔔”

💖 Final words for Nurses Week:
“To my residents – it’s an honor to serve you in your home.
To my team – thank you for your relentless dedication and heart. You make Serenity what it is.”

Please help us celebrate our nurses! Nurses week is May 6th-12th. We started the week off with 3 dozen donuts because, "We donut what we would do without our nurses! Each day we have something planned to celebrate! Please feel free to stop in as we have extra thank you cards at the front desk and write our nurses something special. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts for all they do for our residents.
