🚗💺 Had a road trip that was supposed to be relaxing but your back feels like it hit every pothole along the way?
Here are some travel tips for you!

🔹 Utilizing a lumbar support can make you trip much more tolerable.
When we are standing upright, the weight of gravity is distributed evenly throughout the spine and into your feet; however, when seated, that weight of gravity compresses on your lower back- exacerbating pre-existing lower back troubles.
A lumbar support maintains the normal forward curvature (lordosis) in the lumbar spine, which relaxes the lower back muscles = more relief.

🔸 Periodically stop during your road trips (roughly once every 1-1.5 hours) to get out of the vehicle and move.
This could be something as simple as bending over to touch your toes, bending side to side, walking laps around the vehicle, or making a restroom stop. This break can be just a couple minutes at most. Your back will thank you for getting up, getting your joints moving, and disspiating the pressure built up on the lower back.

Woke up stiff? 🛌
These 2 easy stretches before you even get out of bed can help loosen your back and ankles and start the day right.
Which one do you already do?

Stretch 1: Knee-to-Chest
This is a good stretch to loosen the muscles on the legs but to also decompress the lower back- providing pain relief and more flexibility.
Pull one knee to the chest at a time, holding for 10-15 seconds. Then repeat on the other leg. After this, try pulling both knees towards the chest.

Stretch 2: Ankle Circumduction
This stretch loosens the ankles and can also help stretch the lower leg muscles. Start by moving your ankles in a circle- focusing on the portion in which you are pointing your toes downwards and upwards- this helps to stretch the lower leg muscles. Do 8-10 repetitions of this.
