New AI research is making this possible by decoding brain signals and reconstructing speech using voice samples from before the disease progressed. At minute 3:07 of this incredible video, you can actually hear a man speak with his old voice for the first time in years.
As a speech therapist, I’m constantly reminded how essential communication is—not just for functional needs, but for emotional well-being, connection, and dignity. This is a breathtaking example of how technology can support the human in communication.
