Dona's Sunday Sermon: When the Wall Won’t Move
There are seasons in life when you are doing everything right… and nothing is working.
You pray.
You show up.
You do the work.
You humble yourself.
You stretch beyond what feels comfortable.
And still… brick wall after brick wall.
It is in these moments that frustration enters the room. Quiet at first. Then louder. Whispering questions you never thought you’d ask.
Am I doing something wrong?
Why isn’t this working?
How much longer can I hold on?
And perhaps the most honest question of all…
God, where are You?
But Scripture reminds us:
“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9
Notice it does not say if you do everything perfectly.
It says if you do not give up.
Because frustration is not a sign that you are off path.
Often, it is the sign that you are standing at the threshold.
We assume that when we are aligned, the doors will swing open effortlessly. But many times, alignment does not remove resistance. It builds strength.
A muscle grows through resistance.
Faith grows through waiting.
Character grows through refinement.
The brick wall is not always there to stop you. Sometimes it is there to transform you.
There is a sacred space that exists when you are hanging on by a thread. Because the thread you are hanging on by… is not your strength.
It is God’s.
When your strength ends, His begins.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9
What feels like breaking… is often the breaking open.
Because God is less concerned with getting you somewhere quickly… and more concerned with who you become along the way.
You are not being denied.
You are being prepared.
Prepared to hold what you have asked for.
Prepared to carry it with humility.
Prepared to steward it with wisdom.
There is something happening beneath the surface that you cannot yet see.
Roots grow in darkness.
And the deeper the roots, the stronger the tree.
So if today you feel frustrated…
If today you feel weary…
If today you feel like you are hanging on by a thread…
Let this be your reminder:
You are closer than you think.
The wall is not your ending.
God has not brought you this far to abandon you here.
Your job is not to force the door open.
Your job is to remain faithful.
To show up.
To trust.
To surrender what you cannot control.
And to know that even here… especially here… He is with you.
The breakthrough does not always come when you are strongest.
Sometimes it comes when you decide, quietly and courageously…to hold on.
And so it is.....
XOXO
