Say hello to Dr. Moore, one of our incredible optometrists here at Pocono Eye Associates! 👋

Dr. Moore graduated with honors from Alvernia University in 2019 with a degree in Biochemistry, then went on to complete her doctorate through the prestigious Accelerated Scholars Program at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, finishing with honors in 2023! 🎓✨

Born and raised right here in Pennsylvania, Dr. Moore is proud to be serving the very communities that shaped her. 🏡❤️

✨️Meet the Team Monday: Dr. Kaylene L. Carter, M.D. ✨️

We’re proud to introduce Dr. Kaylene Carter, one of the newest members of the Pocono Eye Associates team! 🇺🇸👩‍⚕️

Dr. Carter began her incredible journey at the U.S. Naval Academy, graduating in 2008 before serving as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard the USS HOPPER, deploying to the Persian Gulf and Asia 🌍⚓ After earning a Master’s in Electrical Engineering, she completed her Navy career working on cutting-edge technology in San Diego before heading into the world of medicine.

She earned her medical degree from Stanford University 🎓 and completed residency at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia 👁️

Dr. Carter specializes in: 🔹 Cataract surgery
🔹 Multifocal and Toric intraocular lenses
🔹 Glaucoma treatment
🔹 Routine eye care
🔹 Facial Botox 💉

She is also a published researcher in corneal wound healing 🧬 and brings both precision and compassion to every patient she sees.

When she’s not in the clinic, Dr. Carter is spending time with her active-duty Navy husband, their two daughters, enjoying the outdoors, quilting, or sharing a good old sea story 🌲🏕️

Say hello to Dr. Shaelan McCormick, O.D. 👩‍⚕️👓

Dr. McCormick brings a passion for science and patient care to Pocono Eye Associates! She graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in 2004 with a B.A. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology 🧬🧪—a strong foundation for her future in eye care.

She went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where she completed extensive externships in primary care, ocular disease, and contact lenses, and graduated with highest honors in 2009 🎓🏅

Dr. McCormick joined our team that same year and has been providing thoughtful, high-quality care to our patients ever since!

When she’s not in the office, Dr. McCormick is an avid runner 🏃‍♀️ and an amazing mom to her two children—balancing life, family, and patient care with grace and energy!

Say hello to Dr. Derek J. Pyle, O.D. 👓🔬

Dr. Pyle is a true scholar and a valued member of Pocono Eye Associates! He graduated as valedictorian from the College of Science at Penn State University in 1994 🎓🦁. Before pursuing optometry, he spent five years working in molecular biology research—bringing a strong scientific foundation to his clinical care 🧪🧠.

In 2004, he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, once again graduating as valedictorian—a rare and impressive achievement! ⭐🏅

Dr. Pyle joined Pocono Eye Associates shortly after and has been committed to providing thoughtful, precise eye care ever since.

We’re lucky to have such a dedicated and knowledgeable optometrist on our team!

Say hello to Dr. Mark P. Gotchel, M.D.

Dr. Gotchel brings decades of expertise and compassion to Pocono Eye Associates 👁️ With a prestigious academic background, he graduated with honors from Princeton University in 1978 🎓🐅 and earned his M.D. from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 1982, where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the esteemed medical honor society 🏅

He completed his ophthalmology training at Geisinger Medical Center in 1986 and has been part of the Pocono Eye Associates family ever since! 🏥 His dedication to patient care and excellence is also reflected in his board certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology ✅

When he's not in the office, Dr. Gotchel is an avid hiker who loves exploring the great outdoors! ⛰️🥾

Meet the Team Monday: Dr. Ethan E. Payne, M.D.! 👨‍⚕️👁️🌟

Say hello to Dr. Ethan Payne — one of the dedicated eye care specialists at Pocono Eye Associates!

Dr. Payne earned his bachelor’s degree from Penn State University 🦁🎓 and went on to receive his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia in 2012. After completing his internship at Crozer-Chester Medical Center 🏥, he headed to Milwaukee to complete his ophthalmology residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin Eye Institute in 2016! ✈️❄️

Today, Dr. Payne is a Board-Certified Comprehensive Ophthalmologist, specializing in cataract surgery, premium intraocular lenses, and glaucoma management 👁👓

Originally from New Columbia, PA, Dr. Payne is proud to bring top-quality eye care back to the communities he calls home ❤️. His passion for helping patients see clearly shines through in every visit!

Say hello to one of the amazing physicians behind your care here at Pocono Eye Associates — Dr. Garth Willis!

Dr. Willis graduated with honors from Ohio Wesleyan University 🎓, earned a Master’s in Health Science and a PA degree from Lock Haven University.
He then served three years as a Family Medicine PA in the U.S. Air Force ✈️. He later earned his M.D. with special distinction from the University of Oklahoma and completed his ophthalmology training at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital in Philly 🏥

Since 2009, Dr. Willis has been helping our community see the world more clearly 👓. He specializes in glaucoma treatment (including laser and MIGS procedures) and both routine and complex cataract surgeries, including the use of premium multifocal and toric lenses 🔬👁️‍🗨️

Board-certified and deeply passionate about patient care, Dr. Willis brings both expertise and heart to every appointment ❤️

He earned his M.D. from Georgetown University, completed his residency at the Scheie Eye Institute at the University of Pennsylvania, and a fellowship in Cornea and External Disease in Florida.

Dr. Young is board-certified, a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and proudly serves as a medical advisor for the NEPA Lions Eye Bank.

When Dr. Young is out of office, you'll find him hiking in the Poconos and spending time with family and labs! 🏞🐶

Dr. Negvesky has been a shining light here at Pocono Eye Associates since 2000 and brings with him a passion for precision, patient care, and all things eyes! 🩺👓

🎓 He graduated with honors from the University of Scranton, then earned his M.D. from Georgetown University (go Hoyas!).

🏥 He served as Chief Resident during his ophthalmology residency at the Washington National Eye Center.

🔬 He’s a published researcher, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

🌟 His specialty? Helping our patients see clearly with advanced Multifocal and Toric intraocular lenses!

When he’s not helping patients see the world more clearly, he’s likely reading up on the latest refractive surgery techniques or enjoying life here in the Poconos.
