Ronald W. Damon Funeral Service

Ron, 85, passed away peacefully at Hospicare in Ithaca, with his daughter at his side holding his hand. Ron was born on December 3, 1935, to Dave and Winnie (Egloff) Damon of East Syracuse. In 1956 Ron became a proud Marine, which impacted his life forever. He married his lovely wife, Barbara Jean Gutliph on August 15, 1958, and had three beautiful daughters, all of whom meant the world to him.
Of the many jobs he held, his favorite was working for the North Syracuse School District, where it was said he brought a "ray of sunshine" and smiles to so many. He retired in 1994, with 226 unused sick days, the most of anyone up to that time.
Ron was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Barbara in 2009; and his youngest daughter, Sandi in 2012.
Surviving are his siblings, David Damon Jr., of East Syracuse, Diane Damon Geloff of Cicero, Gary (Sattie) Damon of Florida and Dan (Pat) Damon of California; his daughters, Lorri (Ted) Doe of Cortland and Shari (Val) Vanderhoof of East Syracuse; five grandsons, Ed (Amber) Heck, Mike Heck, Michael (Katy) Porter, David Reid and Jonathan Reid; one granddaughter, Amanda Porter (Jimmy) Flint; six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Ryan, Colin, Zachary, Shyla Rae and Reggie; and several nieces and nephews.
