We are beyond excited to welcome Clifford Skip Collins to the team! Skip brings not only his expertise but also a fresh perspective, boundless energy, and innovative ideas that we know will make an incredible impact.

Skip was born and raised in Central New York! He is a graduate of the Cicero-North Syracuse Central School District and the Central City Business Institute. Skip has over 30 years of experience in senior healthcare and housing. Prior to joining Aging Advocates CNY, he worked with Hearth Management as their Marketing and Outreach Specialist. In this role, he coordinated efforts with medical professionals, social workers, and community agencies to ensure his senior clients received the skilled care they needed.

His experience includes working closely with families as they transition their loved ones into senior care. Skip finds it deeply gratifying to guide families through the process of securing the skilled care their loved ones need while ensuring it aligns with their desired level of care.

Skip has extensive expertise in supporting clients affected by dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. He initiated the first program connecting medical students with The Hearth, providing them the opportunity to learn the intricacies of elder care under Skip's supervision, in collaboration with the University Geriatricians through Upstate Medical Center. Skip is committed to ensuring families and clients receive personalized care and healthcare options tailored to their specific needs. He is certified in Care Connect for Alzheimer’s and Dementia Staff Training.
In 2019, Skip was recognized as the National Hero for the Assisted Living Communities of America, an honor awarded for his excellence in leadership and advocacy for senior care.

When Skip is not assisting seniors and their loved ones in navigating healthcare options, he enjoys spending time with his husband, traveling, and cooking. He is also the proud dog dad to three (yes, THREE!) active dogs.

This month on Bridge Street, Aging Advocates CNY had the opportunity to discuss how to support loved ones with dementia during the holiday season. Our dementia expert Bernadette Tripp shared invaluable advice and insights in this segment.

A heartfelt thank you to Bridge Street for the opportunity to share holiday strategies tailored for individuals and families navigating the challenges of dementia. It was an honor to connect with your viewers and shed light on the importance of creating meaningful, joyful moments during this season.
As we approach the holidays, let’s remember the value of being fully present with our loved ones, even if it means letting go of our own expectations and adapting to their needs. Small adjustments can make a big difference in fostering connection and comfort for those living with dementia.
Thank you again for providing the platform to share this vital message.

Later this week many families will gather together for Thanksgiving. It can be a joyful time. But that isn’t the case for everyone, particularly those living with dementia and their caretaker…

See below for some important information on Medicare ⬇️

Medicare Medicare Medicare! If it’s confusing and overwhelming to understand… you are not alone! We are aging life care professionals and it can even be confusing for us too. That’s why we work with trusted professionals like Michele Hawthorne & Christine Zippi who keep us up to date on the changes and what we need to notify our clients of. Here are some things we want to everyone to know:

⭐️Be very aware of scams! Medicare will never call and ask for your information over the phone. Another scam going around is mailed envelope labeled to appear that it’s an “official document.” Always check with your agent before filling anything out.

⭐️Working with an ethical and reputable agent who represents a variety of insurance providers is the only way to ensure you are enrolled in the best plan for you.

⭐️Your agent should be asking questions about what providers you want to be able to see, and what medications you are on or might need to be on.

⭐️Be sure to have an annual review so you are up to date with your needs, and any Medicare coverage changes.

Thank you for joining us as well Jared and Jessica from Advocate Health Advisors
