There are fungus among us! After a very dry summer, the fall mushroom season is here! 🍄 While wild fungi can be intriguing, many are toxic to pets and humans, causing serious health issues. Always consult a professional before handling or foraging for wild mushrooms. To keep your furry friends safe, prevent them from ingesting any wild mushrooms, and seek immediate veterinary care if ingestion is suspected. Quick action can save lives. Stay vigilant and prioritize safety! 🐶🐾

Did you know that telehealth consults are available in veterinary medicine? Virtual triage and telehealth services can help alleviate pressure on physical clinics by guiding pet owners through non-critical situations remotely. While telehealth vets can't prescribe medications they CAN help you decide whether or not your pet requires care right away or perhaps can wait for your family veterinarian to be available. We offer a link to a telehealth option on our website. Links to more information in first comment.

We know it can be incredibly stressful when your pet needs care and you are told there is a wait or a need to travel to another facility -- often outside your local area -- for help.

Over and over we hear: “Why can’t you just hire more staff?”

The truth? We wish it were that simple. The veterinary field is facing a nationwide shortage of qualified veterinarians, technicians, and support staff. There are simply not enough licensed professionals available to meet our need. Those who are in the field are working incredibly hard to care for every animal they can. We’re actively doing everything we can to support our team and provide the best care possible, and we add to our team (120 and counting) every day. In the meantime, we ask for your continued patience and kindness.

Here's what our clients are saying about our surgery service: "Professionals who ensure your pet gets the best of care. Dr. Rowe-Guthrie has done two TPLO surgeries on my Yorkie and both surgeries had excellent outcomes. Doctors, techs, and front desk people make you and your pet feel welcome."

We're proud to announce that Jessie Burgess, LVT has been certified as a Companion Animal Rehabilitation Therapist (CCAT). The CCAT credential is recognized as a premier certification in canine rehabilitation training. To complete this certification, Jessie had to complete rigorous hands-on coursework, three case studies, a written exam and a practicum portion with case presentation.

Jessie is interested in obtaining her North Carolina State University CSCC --a certified canine strength and conditioning coach certificate as she has become this region's go-to rehabilitation technician for sporting dogs.

Jessie has an experienced and evidence based understanding working with sporting injuries and enhancing performance in sporting and working dogs. She has a passion and special interest in developing support programs for Guiding Eyes for the Blind (GEB) to support appropriate conditioning for and education of handlers and trainers in the program.

We're so proud of her accomplishments and of the great services she offers at CARE Pet Therapy!
