New chapter, new beginnings! Life got busy, and I stepped away from this page, but I'm back with a renewed commitment to sharing my knowledge of nutrition and wellness. As a registered dietitian and integrated functional nutritionist, I recognize that everyone's health journey is one-of-a-kind. My goal is to support you in finding your tailored approach to optimal wellness. Hi, I'm Rachel Albaum, and I'm excited to reconnect with you on this journey! šŸ‘‹

Exercise has been a hard change for me - it was always a priority and passion and then it just couldn’t be anymore. There were too many obstacles.

I am navigating myself back and at the gym today I noticed I was saying to myself ā€œI can’t wait to get back to the old meā€. But as I kept saying it I was like but the old me isn’t me anymore. I am in a new decade of my life (40s), I had a baby, have a toddler, am still breastfeeding, and often sleep deprived. I live (naturally at this stage in life) at a higher stress level and let’s face it I’m exhausted!!

So what I decided to do is to reframe - to let go of the old me and to focus on being the best version of the current me. To focus again on things that bring me joy like body movement even if it ā€œlooksā€ different then the old me version.

In my practice I see people always striving to get back to their old version. But life changes and we change. Just think of all the body changes we go through- puberty, pregnancy (for some), hormonal shifts as we age, and menopause. What if we shifted our thoughts, stopped the comparison to your old self and showed up to your current and say hey šŸ‘‹

It’s been a ā€œhot minuteā€ or more like 2 plus years since I have said šŸ‘‹!! Life has been crazy and I needed to pull away from social media to focus time on growing my family as well as growing my business and so unfortunately IG had to take a back seat!

So for those on here who don’t really know me and even for those who do… let me introduce myself!

My name is Rachel and I have dedicated the past almost 25 years (that’s crazy šŸ˜) to studying nutrition. It’s my passion to help others find their path to better health through nutrition, body movement, stress, and sleep management.

-I am medically trained but continued on my studies to become board certified in integrative and functional nutrition to deepen my practice and offer more of a wholistic approach. It’s more then weight, it’s more then calories in vs out, and it’s more then the next fad diet your doctor is recommending (no offense docs !)

- I take health insurance in my practice bc I strongly believe everyone deserves to have the opportunity to seek nutrition help!

-When I’m not working I’m spending as much time with my little one, hopefully making it to a yoga class, for a run, or even a quick hop on my peloton, and trying to come up with meals my toddler will eat (yes we entered the ā€œselectiveā€ phase!).

-Balancing work with life and health has been challenging for me, but it helps me have more compassion to my patients and serve them better (lessons in everything !)

If you like what I have to say, if you want to see/ hear more about nutrition, my life and balancing act (lol) say hi in the comments below!!! I would love šŸ’• to hear from you!

I wonder if you know,
the work your body has done today.
And every day.
How much disease it has fought off.
How many times it could have failed but battled on,
how many ways it could have broken but did not.

I wonder if you know,
the work your body has done today.
And every day.
And each day it has done this amazing job,
without your help,
without your approval,
your acceptance,
your kindness.

Each day it has soldiered on,
regardless of the constant stream of negativity,
pulsing its way from your brain to your cells.
Not good enough.
Not attractive enough.
Not the right shape.

Perhaps it’s time to see your body for what is truly is,
An amazing and mind-blowingly competent machine.
To get your soul to where it needs to be in this life.
To let you live.

I wonder if you know,
how much better you would be as a team.
I wonder.

I recorded this a few weeks ago and was a bit anxious to share myself meditating. But this is such a powerful meditation and has been so useful for me during this time, I figured what better day to share it than Earth day. This meditation sends love and kindness to yourself, loved ones, and everyone around the globe.

It is a 10 minute Love and Kindness Guided Meditation. There are zero rules and anyone can do this! All you need is 10 minutes of time to listen- you can be laying down, sitting, walking, doing the dishes etc. Feel free to invite the kids to join.
