Have you met Kellie Finn, the creator and lead instructor of Yoga:LiveIt? You should. She's the sunlight through the trees, the cool breeze across your back on a hot day.
Kellie's been studying, exploring and living the philosophies of yoga for 25 years. 25 years!!! And teaching for 15 years. 15 years!!!
She first met yoga in 1991. Between a volunteer stint and residency at Omega Institute and Kripalu Center, respectively, Kellie explored various yoga traditions including Kundalini, Ashtanga, Pattabhi Jois, and Iyengar. She has also immersed herself in the study of Anusara.
In the midst of all this, Kellie discovered the power of community as a volunteer through Hands on Atlanta in Georgia, a company that plugs folks into volunteer opportunities around the city. HOA had a huge impact on her vision for community that holds what all people can give each other through communication, curiosity, and action — regardless of race, class, or age.
These decades shaped Kellie's approach to yoga — and how she sees yoga existing in the world. She sees yoga not simply as a path to self-knowledge and growth, but as a recognition that each of us has a responsibility to integrate ourselves into, and enhance, the world at large.
No matter where we’ve come from or what we’ve survived, Kellie believes, we have the ability to transmute our experiences into an offering — into our our piece of the giant puzzle that is the world.
The tools of yoga help us in this great, communal artistry. They help us integrate our experiences. They help us identify the curves, colors, textures, and placement that is our offering, our piece. They help us live so that our pain and our joy may enhance our world.
Currently Kellie teaches weekly classes, workshops, and educational series. She specializes in working one-on-one with individuals to employ curiosity, acceptance, self advocacy, and empowerment in order to break patterns of disassociation, destructive behavior choices, and limited agency perceptions associated with severe trauma.
In addition to Yoga:LiveIt!, Kellie co-created Shri 200-hour YTT and operates Yoga Eastworks in Easthampton, MA. She earned her B.A. in Performance Art from Agnes Scott College, and is a Maryland University of Integrative Health graduate with an M.S. in Yoga Therapy.
Above all, Kellie feels grinningly thankful for all the teachers and peers she’s studied with both on and off the mat. She is committed to the sweetness of being in process and to the art of thriving. She is immensely grateful for New England living, family, friends, sunshine, good jokes, moon gazing, night walks, ocean breezes, lingering hugs, fresh vegetables, road trips, adverbs, and an ever-growing boot collection.
