Community Update: Eastland Dialysis Center
Eastland Memorial Hospital District would like to share an update with our community following the recent winter weather event that impacted the Eastland Dialysis Center.
On January 26, 2026, the dialysis center experienced significant flooding caused by a winter storm-related sprinkler failure. While patients were safely transferred to surrounding facilities to ensure there was no interruption in their life-sustaining dialysis treatments, we truly hate that this situation has displaced our patients and created hardship for them and their families. Many of our patients are now traveling at least an hour each way for care, and we understand the physical, emotional, and financial strain this places on those who depend on these treatments.
Please know that our dialysis team remains in close contact with every patient, and donations have been received to help offset transportation challenges during this time. Restoration work began immediately and includes professional drying of the building, necessary repairs, and installation of new flooring so the facility can safely reopen.
Before treatments can resume locally, a state inspection is required, and that inspection has already been requested. While our goal is to welcome patients back to their home dialysis center by February 25, 2026, reopening will ultimately be contingent upon completion of repairs and approval through the required state inspection process. The work of caring for our dialysis patients is incredibly important to us, and we want nothing more than to be treating them again here at home as soon as it is safely possible.
We know how essential local access to dialysis care is for the people we serve. These patients are not just individuals receiving treatment, they are our neighbors, our friends, and members of our community. Please be assured that every step toward reopening is being taken as quickly, safely, and responsibly as possible, guided by patient safety standards and regulatory requirements.
We are grateful for the patience, compassion, and generosity our community has shown during this challenging time, and we look forward to restoring services and continuing to care for our patients closer to home.
