Through social media and private conversations, I have learned what a beating our healthcare workers are taking during this current wave of the pandemic. Between the staffing issues that come with vaccine mandates, longer hours without breaks, dismal pay (despite bonuses for new hires and travelers) and the stress of caring for very ill patients who are experiencing excessively long wait times, our nurses, techs and other hospital staff are becoming exhausted and burnt out. I’m trying to wrap my head around this situation to figure out what I can do to help. While I’m chewing on ideas about letter writing campaigns to hospital administrators, the Maryland board of nursing and state and federal legislators, I know one thing I can do is offer my time and expertise to help quell some of the immediate stress from this excruciating situation. To this end, I’m declaring September “Healthcare Provider Month,” and all hospital workers and care providers get free acupuncture on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I will be adhering to strict sanitization and masking protocols to mitigate risk for all patients. Please share if you know of a healthcare provider who would benefit from this. I’m grateful to be able to offer something of value to those who have so loyally and courageously cared for our community. 🌟Please call 410-310-1599 to schedule an appointment🌟
