Yesterday, members of the EPC Student-Athlete Character Council came together to deliver a truckload of donations to LVHN’s Hackerman-Patz House. The donated goods included many items from the house’s wish list, such as non-perishable foods, snacks, paper products, toiletries, gift cards, and more.

The Hackerman-Patz House donation drive is part of the annual programming LVHN and SACC school advisors use to educate student members on the pillars of character.

The Hackerman-Patz House is a hospitality house that provides affordable, temporary lodging for patients and their families receiving medical treatment at LVHN facilities. It offers a comfortable, home-like environment for those who need to stay close to the hospital—particularly during extended treatments or critical care. The house includes private rooms, common areas, and other amenities designed to support guests during their stay.

This important resource relies on donations like those delivered yesterday to help provide families with a supportive, stress-free environment during difficult times. To support the Hackerman-Patz House, click the link in our profile or copy and paste the link below to make a donation.

We’d like to give a shoutout to LVHN and Lehigh Athletic Trainer Shelby Hoppis, who recently served as a member of the inaugural NCAA Women’s Wrestling Championships Sports Medicine Staff in Iowa!

The championships took place March 6–7, where Lehigh crowned a national champion as Audrey Jimenez (110 lbs) secured the title with a 1:50 fall over GVSU’s Sage Mortimer.

Other Lehigh place finishers included Abigail Cooper (117 lbs – 6th place) and Aubre Krazer (131 lbs – 3rd place).

Congratulations to Shelby and the entire Lehigh women's wrestling program on an incredible performance on the national stage. We’re proud to see LVHN represented at such a historic event!

We would like to give a big shoutout to LVHN and Lehigh University Athletic Trainer, Steve Gober, as he wraps up his service to Team Czechia at the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

Steve brings an extensive baseball background, having spent 10 seasons with the Cincinnati Reds Triple-A affiliate, the Louisville Bats, where he became the longest tenured athletic trainer in the program’s history. Prior to his time with the Reds organization, Steve dedicated a significant portion of his career to the Washington Nationals organization, serving in various roles at both the Major League and Minor League levels. His experience extends even further, with additional service to the Expos and Mets.

We are grateful for Steve’s commitment to excellence and the expertise he brings to the game. His contributions continue to elevate every team he supports, both at home and on the world stage.

The LVHN Impact Athlete program is excited to announce the signing of University of Pennsylvania (and recent Duke University commit) Wide Receiver, Jared Richardson.

After establishing himself as one of the Lehigh Valley's premier athletes during his high school career as Quarterback at Bethlehem Catholic High School, Jared went on to establish himself as a top talent in the classroom and on the field for the UPenn Quakers.

Jared’s college career is a story of steady growth that turned into full blown dominance. Arriving at Penn in 2022, he spent his early seasons developing into a reliable, physical target in the Quakers’ offense. By 2024 he had become a consistent starter, using his 6‑2, 220-pound frame to win matchups and emerge as one of the Ivy League’s most dependable receivers. His rise culminated in a historic 2025 season, where he delivered one of the greatest performances ever by a Penn wideout: 80 receptions, 1,033 yards, and 12 touchdowns, leading the Ivy League in every major receiving category. His production earned him unanimous First‑Team All‑Ivy honors and multiple All‑America selections from outlets such as Sports Illustrated, the AFCA, the Associated Press, and Stats Perform.

After helping Penn to a winning season and cementing himself as one of the top receivers in the FCS, Jared entered the transfer portal, an Ivy League necessity for graduate players, and committed to Duke for the 2026 season. His move to the ACC places him in a Manny Diaz led program with a high-powered offense with a need for a big, experienced target, giving him the opportunity to showcase his skills on a national stage.

Keep a lookout for some big announcements in the coming months and how you can get some instructional support from Jared and other Impact Athletes!

Spring sports have arrived which means we are 1 year away from the inaugural girl's flag football season!

"The PIAA approved Girls’ Flag Football in September 2024. To allow schools
enough time to prepare for the season ahead (form teams, familiarize themselves with the rules, and train officials) the first PIAA Girls’ Flag Football Championship will be held in May 2027.

The sanctioning of girls’ flag football is the result of a collaborative effort between the Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, and PIAA. In July 2023, PIAA designated girls’ flag football as an emerging sport, a critical step toward full sanctioning.

Currently, more than 150 Pennsylvania schools sponsor girls’ flag football, underscoring the sport’s rapid growth and strong statewide interest" -PIAA

To prepare athletes for the year ahead, our PT team wanted to get some information out there to help flag players become more aware of the risks ahead. We wish everyone the best of luck as they develop their programs!

March is National Athletic Training Month!

Athletic trainers are highly skilled healthcare professionals who specialize in preventing injuries, providing clinical evaluation, delivering emergency care, and guiding patients through rehabilitation. Recognized by major medical organizations, ATs play a vital role across care settings, far beyond the sidelines, helping reduce healthcare costs, improve functional outcomes, and keep communities healthy and active.

As we look ahead to National Athletic Training Month (NATM) 2026, it’s the perfect time to spotlight the impact ATs make every day. Their expertise strengthens care teams, supports patient safety, and ensures faster, safer returns to work, school, and activity.

This March, we celebrate the athletic trainers on our staff who keep our communities moving; they are somebody YOU can count on.

This weekend at Lehigh University, our team of athletic trainers and physicians was on the mat once again for the National Prep Wrestling Championships.

From bloody noses to orthopedic injuries and everything in between, our medical staff was prepared to provide immediate care throughout an intense weekend of competition.

Wrestlers from across the country competed in both the boys and girls divisions, each stepping onto the mat with the same goal: to earn the title of national champion. Events like this demand not only peak performance from the athletes, but also a highly coordinated medical presence to ensure safety, rapid response, and continuity of care.

We are proud to support these competitors at one of the most prestigious high school wrestling events in the nation. Congratulations to all participants, coaches, and champions on an outstanding weekend of wrestling.
