When you are ready to start building your family tree, it is important to start with known facts. For example, try to have dates and locations as best as possible to really latch onto accurate records that will help you go further and deeper into your roots. To "view" actual records online such as census documents or birth/marriage/death (BMD) certificates, data is tightly held with a "100 year" rule meaning that records easily located online for privacy reasons are usually not containing data for people who may still be alive. In Scotland, the most currently available census is the 1901 census, you can request newer BMD certificates but they tend to be ordered online to be mailed via paper, or if you engage a local researcher to physically conduct a search at the records center. My best advice, have family details available that will get us back at least 100 years....your grandparents full names and where they were born, married, where did they live? What were their occupations? These clues help "confirm" records when we start hunting them. Happy hunting!
