Your kid is sick again and you’re wondering if this is normal or if there’s more you could be doing, I've been there. This talk is led by a mom of three and a naturopathic doctor who understands both the science and real life. Dr. Virdee will break down how kids’ immune systems actually work, what helps during those rough sick weeks, and how to support their bodies long term in a way that feels doable.

Plus, you can enjoy a bowl of Kitchari, a nourishing Ayurvedic healing dish, that can help you and your littles this season.

Hey caregivers! Come nerd out with me about the resilience of our bodies, how we can support our bodies through cold and flu season, common causes for recurrent infections in kids, how we can approach our medical providers in asking for support, how to minimize antibiotic use to only when medically necessary and how to support our bodies after antibiotic use.

🥮 Happy Thanksgiving 🍁 ! We loved enjoying the beautiful weather with our local community this morning, grateful for the for hosting!
I’ve been reflecting on how grateful I am for the many local medical professionals who collaborate with me in supporting our patients’ healing. Even though Easton is rural, it’s full of exceptional medical and wellness providers, and I feel lucky to work alongside them. But most of all, I’m thankful for my patients—the ones who saw quick improvement, the ones who worked with me through the long, layered process of uncovering the roots of their symptoms, the ones who get better and think of me when new concerns come up (its always a joy to reconnect) and the ones who opened my eyes even further to disability activism (🦓💚).
Each of you has shaped my practice in meaningful ways and it’s wild to think about the impact patients have on each other’s care through the work they do with care providers. For example, last week, I learned that sinus surgery is associated with complications such as triggering autoimmune/psoriasis in the months following, and I wouldn’t have learned that had I not had three new patients come in post sinus surgery with new onset psoriasis- but when I checked the literature - voila! It’s there, well documented, and now I know, and now every patient that’s considering it or just received it will get immune support.

🗣️I want to yell from rooftops 🔊 Talbot County now has doulas who can accept medicare insurance plans for coverage! The got grant money to train multilingual + women of diverse backgrounds to become doulas at .md . Sam, the village founder, and I both spoke of the ripple effect we see that comes from mothers who are given nourishing, gentle and empowered care before, during and after birth. This event felt like history in the making, and I’m asking that you share The Village with any soon to be moms, new moms or moms seeking more support, we are so lucky to have this space for women to connect with a healing community here in Talbot county. The Village will help connect each pregnant woman with a doula that’s a good fit for them, and then, she has a chance to interview doulas and pick the best fit for her needs. 🌺🪻🌷🤰🏽

.md is a new wellness center in Easton that provides care for all seasons of parenthood, including those parents that are grieving their pregnancy loss ( ). What I love about this support group is that it’s online, guided by two therapists, and offers a safe space for grieving in community, which is SO healing but can feel hard when the grief feels so isolating. Please share if you know anyone who may be interested.

[Eastern Shore Community] Our newest Heme/Onc Dr. Gupta is collaborating with an extraordinary artist/RN to bring therapeutic art nights to our community. Tomorrow is the first session, if you’re interested RSVP to the number in the flyer. 🤞🏾 I’ll be able to make it out, too! Dr. Gupta also has an incredible art installation in her waiting room that was created by people with the diagnosis of cancer, as well✨. I love when medical providers combine art with medicine (literally and figuratively).

I’m disappointed only because the pediatric patients I had who were taking HIYA multivitamins prior to working with me had such great nutrient levels when I’d check micronutrient levels. Lead safe mama is a favorite resource of mine, if you don’t know her story, please check it out. Regarding supplements, I tend to only recommend supps that undergo third party testing to ensure minimal levels of toxins like lead.

Please share, especially if you have fams who are using this multivitamin. You can also call these supplement companies and ask for third party test information. I do this quite a bit, especially for products made with turmeric, chlorella, trace minerals, and BINDERS (these all are notorious for having high levels of lead).

https://tamararubin.com/2024/09/hiya-kids-daily-multivitamins-test-positive-for-lead-cadmium-arsenic-laboratory-report-here

Quick Summary: All federal agencies agree that there is no safe level of Lead exposure for children. None. Lead bio-mimics Calcium, which means it is absorbed by the body in the place of Calcium by Calcium-dependent biological structures. This makes the presence of Lead in a children’s daily .....

[Foundations Island Yoga 🤎 Trauma Informed Body Care 🧘🏾‍♀️ 1 month unlimited classes giveaway!]
Pictured is me in a roomful of trauma informed yoga teachers who went through YTT at - I was lucky enough to spend a few hours with them talking trauma informed body care earlier this year, speaking to things YT’s may notice with their students. Topics we specifically addressed were hypermobility and its link to ME/CFS and fibromyalgia and my approach to treatment. The many mechanisms behind trauma and IBS (PLEASE NOTE - it’s almost never “all in your head”, trauma can trigger very real physiological changes that can contribute to gut inflammation. I think the biggest thing I realized that more people need to know about is how not all probiotics are beneficial for everyone. Ex- one persons family member found that he felt worse drinking kombucha- I think it was triggering headaches and diarrhea- and this is actually really common, I see it often! Not everyone does well with kombucha, sauerkraut and different types of probiotic pills, and it’s linked to how the probiotics interact with their unique gut microbiome / how many biological amines their system is contending with (histamine, tyramine, dopamine etc). These intolerances can point to underlying concerns with the gut microbiome itself.
ANYHOW! Foundations gifted me with a month of unlimited classes pass that I want to give to a member of our community. If you are interested please DM me with your name/email and I’ll do a little raffle later this week. It’s such a calming and healing space.
