Summer is calling... and connection is the destination!
Whether it’s a backyard BBQ, a road trip playlist singalong, or a simple walk in the park, summer is all about making memories and meaningful connections.
Try this easy, fun activity:
- Memory Stones – Grab some smooth rocks, paint them together with bright colors, simple symbols, or encouraging words, then hide them around your neighborhood or garden for others to find. It’s creative, purposeful, and a great bonding moment for caregivers and individuals alike.

Here’s to a summer filled with laughter, connection, and community.

☀️ Staying Safe in the Summer Heat
Summer can be especially tough on older adults and those with health conditions. Caregivers, here are a few tips to help your loved ones stay cool and safe:

- Stay hydrated – Water is key! Avoid caffeine and alcohol.
- Keep it cool – Use fans, AC, or visit air-conditioned spaces like libraries or community centers.
- Avoid peak heat hours – Plan outdoor activities for early morning or late evening.
- Protect skin – Use sunscreen, wear light clothing, and don’t forget a hat!
- Watch for warning signs – Dizziness, headaches, and nausea may signal heat-related illness.

Your care and attention can make all the difference.

Caregivers, We See You!
Caring for a loved one is a profound act of love—but it can also be physically and emotionally draining. Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish, it’s essential. Here are some tips to help prevent caregiver burnout:

❤️ Take Breaks – Even short moments of rest throughout the day can help reset your energy and mindset.
❤️ Ask for Help – Don’t hesitate to lean on family, friends, or professional respite services. You don’t have to do it alone.
❤️ Set Boundaries – It's okay to say no or set limits to protect your well-being.
❤️ Talk It Out – Join a support group or connect with a counselor to process emotions and reduce stress.
❤️ Prioritize Self-Care – Sleep, nutritious food, movement, and doing something just for you can go a long way.

Remember: You can’t pour from an empty cup. Taking care of yourself helps you care for others even better.

Keeping the Mind Sharp! Just like our bodies, our brains need regular exercise to stay strong and healthy—especially as we age. Here are a few fun and easy ways to keep your mind active:

1. Brain Games – Crossword puzzles, Sudoku, memory games, and brain-training apps help improve focus, memory, and problem-solving skills.
2. Lifelong Learning – Read books, take an online class, or learn a new language to challenge your brain in new ways.
3. Creative Outlets – Painting, crafting, or playing music stimulates different areas of the brain and supports emotional well-being.
4. Social Interaction – Engage in conversations, join clubs, or participate in group activities to strengthen both cognitive and emotional health.
5. Stay Active – Physical movement, like walking or yoga, boosts blood flow to the brain and supports overall mental sharpness.

Small daily habits can make a big difference in long-term cognitive health. Let’s keep our minds moving!

Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month begins!
This June, we're shining a light on the importance of brain health and early detection of Alzheimer's disease.
Knowing the warning signs can make a world of difference for you or a loved one. Here are a few to watch for:

🔹 Memory loss that disrupts daily life
🔹 Difficulty completing familiar tasks
🔹 Confusion with time or place
🔹 Trouble understanding visual images or spatial relationships
🔹 New problems with words in speaking or writing
🔹 Withdrawal from work or social activities
🔹 Mood and personality changes

Early detection leads to better planning, access to treatment, and more time to connect with the people and moments that matter most.
Let’s raise awareness and support brain health together.

Music therapy helps memory and mood!
At our adult day program, we use music therapy to connect, comfort, and engage participants—especially those living with memory loss. From familiar tunes that spark old memories to rhythm exercises that support motor skills, music creates powerful moments of joy and connection.

Research shows that music can reduce agitation, improve communication, and elevate mood. Whether it’s a group sing-along, drumming circle, or calming instrumental session, we see the impact every day.

💜 Music makes a difference—because everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and uplifted.

Stroke awareness saves lives!
Knowing the signs of a stroke can mean the difference between full recovery and long-term disability.

Here’s how to spot a stroke FAST:

F – Face drooping: Is one side of the face numb or drooping? Ask the person to smile.
A – Arm weakness: Is one arm weak or numb? Ask them to raise both arms.
S – Speech difficulty: Is speech slurred or hard to understand?
T – Time to call 911: If someone shows any of these symptoms, even if they go away, call 911 immediately.

⏱ Every second counts—early treatment improves outcomes.

Share this to help raise awareness and potentially save a life.
