Music class sessions at the Funhouse begin next week! One of our favorites, Kids' Chorus, will be meeting on Fridays after school with Miss Mary, from 3:30-4:30. Kids can walk from the Christian School or the Elementary School with the Funhouse Staff and Afterschool Program kids. Last year the Kids' Chorus performed on the Village Green stage at the Tree Lighting, at the Orcas Center, and at the Island Market! This is a really fun group to be a part of - Performances are also just optional, so no pressure. Kids' Chorus is provided in collaboration with the Music Advocacy Group. We love building this musical network on Orcas!

Hello from the Funhouse! This is our second year of the Music Program, and we are so excited to offer an array of classes, and to be sending out good vibes from our revamped music studio, the Richie Moore Song Shop! Our first 6-week class session of the school year starts next week, and it will be followed by a second that begins in early November.

A newer addition to the Funhouse, Ladeez Electric Guitar is an electric guitar and bass class for both beginners and players who want to increase their skill and play in a group of supportive women. Open to ages 13-18, classes will meet in the Funhouse Music Studio from 5-6pm on Thursdays. This is taught by Mary Wachter, aka Feral Mary , a local musician who has years of experience playing in bands and is working on her second album. This Fall, Funhouse Commons will be proudly continuing their new music program, “Songlab”, running from October 13th to December 17th.
Songlab will be operating in the Funhouse’s brand new Songshop, with cutting edge recording gear. Songlab is a music education program where students will learn the art of songwriting and recording. There will be two classes per week geared towards students 11 to 18 years old. Led by local music educator and performer Pedro Lopez DeVictoria, Songlab will take students through the process of songcraft, from abstract idea to finished and publishable recording!

Summer Fun!

Thank you to both Turtleback Brass and Clint McCune for enchanting and inspiring the kids with your love for music!

Every Tuesday at 2 we are inviting local musicians to "show and tell" their artistry to 35 Summer Campers as we enjoy Sno-Cones in the Summer together.

If you are a musician and would like to come play for the kids, please let us know!

Today also a huge thank you to James and Betty Jensen, new owners of Orcas Rental and Saw for coming over and helping setup our new pizza oven.

Speaking of pizza oven, we'll be firing it up this next Tuesday, July 22 and working on the Cobb bench with F.E.A.S.T!

Middle Schoolers are welcome to join and learn how to build out of Cobb materials and have pizza!

Also still room on the bus this Friday to go fishing. Looking for adventurous 12-15 year olds.

Oh, also thank you Brook and leading our Summer Camp art classes.

Plus, our 2nd annual micro cinema workshop and film fest is just around the corner and then later in the Summer is the Academy of Sound!
