Happy Earth Day! We’ve been honoring Mother Nature all month at Island City Assisted Living, and we are so proud and excited to have started our very own herb garden—planted by our residents themselves! Thyme, mint, parsley, basil, and more will soon be filling our bellies this summer. Our residents also had a wonderful time painting their own flowerpots, making it a fun and meaningful way to get involved in planting their own flowers.

On the first day of spring, we held a Celebration of Life to honor both those who are still with us and those we carry in our hearts. Thank you to Chaplain Chris with Elara Caring and musician Marty Noss for helping us create such a meaningful time of remembrance. And a heartfelt thank you to the families who joined us in fellowship and reflection. Your presence made the day truly special.

Our St. Patrick’s Day celebration was full of Irish charm, delicious food, and cheerful music. Residents enjoyed a traditional corned beef dinner, then gathered for happy hour featuring potato pancakes, caramel rock shrimp, spinach pie, and festive green punch. With Bob Bryan serenading in the background, it was a joyful afternoon filled with good company, great flavors, and plenty of St. Patrick’s Day spirit.

Move over Italy, the real Olympic games were at ICAL and the competition was REAL. From darts and basketball to shuffleboard and Mind Olympics, every resident “qualified” and came ready to win.

Gold, silver, and bronze medals were awarded — along with lifelong bragging rights. But it’s not about winning (it’s definitely about winning.)
