Annual exams are recommended for most cats and dogs, although smaller dogs or those with existing dental issues may require cleanings every 6 to 12 months.
Signs to watch for: schedule a vet visit if you notice bad breath, broken teeth, abnormal chewing, bleeding or swollen gums.
