Why Earthways Healing?
I chose the name Earthways Healing in early 2010, during one of the most profound periods of transformation in my life.
My healing journey began long before the business itself. I had been sober and in recovery for over 12 years, and it was through recovery that I first learned about shedding old layers, rebuilding from within, and discovering strength I didn’t know I had. That transformation led me to pursue my Associate’s Degree in Human Services in 2001, and by 2003, I began working in the substance abuse field, supporting others on their own paths of healing. I later completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology with a Minor in Public Administration, with a focus on Social Work, in 2005.
YET, there was another layer of healing calling to me.
I moved to Montana for a moment experienced the amazing landscape there, then returned to Wisconsin, where I participated in my first Indigenous sweat lodge ceremony—a moment that deeply changed me. In that sacred space, I felt a connection to my ancestors (my grandmas - 3 generations) and to something much older and wiser than myself. It awakened a knowing that healing was not only clinical and psychological—it was also spiritual, energetic, and deeply connected to the Earth.
From there, I was intuitively drawn to explore alternative healing practices—Reiki, essential oils, energy work, and trauma-informed modalities like EMDR and Brainspotting. While working for Tribal communities and exploring my ancestral roots within a Medicine Lodge, many of the gifts and sensitivities I had carried since childhood began to make sense. What I once experienced as “different,” I came to understand as intuitive awareness and a deep capacity to hold space for healing.
Through it all, the Earth was my constant teacher.
As an Earth sign, I’ve always felt grounded and restored in nature. When life felt heavy, I would take my children to the woods or to the water. The Earth held us. It steadied us. It reminded me that healing is not forced—it is allowed. It happens in layers, in seasons, and in relationship with something greater than ourselves.
Earthways Healing was born from this understanding.
It represents the many paths of healing available to us—the clinical and the holistic, the emotional and the spiritual, the personal and the ancestral. It reflects my belief that healing happens when we reconnect with ourselves, with our story, and with the natural wisdom that lives within and around us.
Today, it is my honor to walk alongside others as they navigate their own healing journeys.
