Today we want to honor all who have served — those who carried the weight, the memories, the transitions, and the stories that are not always easy to tell.

We also want to recognize our founder, David Carlson, whose journey as a combat veteran is featured in a powerful two-part story on NPR’s Up First.

These episodes dive into what it means to serve, to come home, and to build a new chapter — one grounded in healing, community, and purpose.

If this story speaks to you, please consider sharing.

To all veterans:
Your story matters. Your experience matters. Your continued strength matters.
We see you. We honor you. Thank you for your service.

We Adapt is headed to the Children Come First Conference!

November 3–4, 2025 | Kalahari Resort, WI Dells

We are incredibly proud to share that two of our very own will be presenting at this year’s Children Come First Conference — one of Wisconsin’s leading conferences supporting youth mental health and systems of care.

Please help us congratulate:

💥 Janet Weix, Co-Owner of C.C. We Adapt
💥 Nichole Kulow, LPC — Licensed Professional Counselor & Certified Social Worker
(C.C. We Adapt & Next Generation Mentors)

These two leaders represent the heart of our mission: showing up, serving with compassion, and believing in the potential of every young person we walk alongside.

Their knowledge, lived experience, and commitment to youth empowerment is making a real difference across Wisconsin — and we couldn’t be prouder to have them sharing that on a statewide stage. 💛

Drop a 👏👏👏 in the comments to help us cheer them on!

We’re starting the week strong — and what better way to kick things off than with a fire beat? 🎶🔥

Last week, we received an original track from someone who has been positively impacted by the work we do at C.C. We Adapt. Moments like this remind us that simply showing up and doing the right thing each day can leave a deeper impact than we may ever know.

We are truly honored to have inspired something like this.
It’s a powerful reminder that small, consistent actions can lead to real, lasting change.

Give it a listen — and once you do, drop your favorite emoji in the comments!
Let’s start this week with gratitude, connection, and a beat you’ll feel.

Happy Friday!
It's time to introduce Isaac Hahn, our Director of Internal Support! 🤩

I have spent the last 20 years serving as a career firefighter. A role that shaped how I see people, community, and purpose. After many years of service, I realized I wanted to continue helping others, but in a way that focused on building people up before they ever reached a crisis point.

During that time, I reached out to a close friend and mentor, David Carlson, in hopes of finding some volunteer work that would allow me to stay connected to service. Instead, David offered me something more. A position with CC We Adapt. What began as an opportunity to give back evolved into one of the most meaningful and fulfilling chapters of my life.

Giving back has always been deeply important to me. I grew up in subsidized housing and spent much of my adolescence involved with a gang. The mentors who stepped into my life during those years changed my path completely. Without their guidance, my story would look very different today and that’s a truth I carry with me in every aspect of my work.

Today, I have the privilege of operating in two different, yet connected, worlds. On the peer support and mentoring side, I’ve learned that the most powerful intervention is prevention. When we help someone build resilience, emotional regulation, and connection early on, we can often prevent the very emergencies that require first responders later.

From the first responder side, I see the reality of what happens when those support systems are missing. I meet people in moments of crisis and trauma, and I have the privilege of being there to help often on the worst day of their lives.

For me, CC We Adapt is where these two worlds meet. It’s the bridge between prevention and response, a place where the lessons I’ve learned through years of service can shape systems of support that reach people long before the alarm ever sounds.

Thank you, Isaac, for all of the important roles you play in our community! We are thankful to have you on our team!

Let's meet Emily Bollinger, our Manager of Internal Operations!

Emily’s journey to helping others has been shaped by both professional experience and personal passion. Originally from New Jersey and raised in a Milwaukee suburb, Emily attended UW-Eau Claire to pursue nursing—where her dedication to individualized, person-centered care began.

Her career path has taken her from the Eau Claire Academy as a Residential Treatment Worker, to the Wisconsin Early Autism Project as a Line Therapist, to working on an inpatient behavioral health unit as a registered nurse. Through these experiences, she’s learned that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to care—each person’s journey is unique, and meeting people where they’re at is key to lasting success.

Outside of work, Emily channels her passion for helping others into fitness. A former collegiate soccer captain at UWEC, she later found purpose and community through CrossFit, which inspired her to become a fitness coach. She loves the sense of empowerment and connection that comes from celebrating others’ growth—both in the gym and in life.

When she’s not working or coaching, you’ll find Emily hiking and exploring the outdoors with her husband, three boys, and their two dogs.

We’re so grateful to have Emily as part of our leadership team at We Adapt, where she brings her energy, compassion, and commitment to helping others overcome adversity and achieve their individual goals.
