Fall programming is more than just pumpkins and plaid.

Here are 3 key things to consider as you build your September–November calendar:

1. Energy Shifts
As the days get shorter, so does motivation. Focus on mood-boosting activities, cozy connections, and programs that
bring light—literally and figuratively.

2. Layered Programming
Mix large-scale events with small sensory or reflective moments. A Thanksgiving celebration is great—but so is a
cinnamon-scented craft in a quiet space.

3. Resident Transitions
Fall can bring new admissions in senior living. Include orientation-style programs, welcome socials, and simple
routines that help people ease in.

Orquidea Tamayo Mortera was one of the first international contacts that NAAP made, and we have had the honor of collaborating with her and the New Zealand Society of Diversional and Recreational Therapists (NZSDRT) for about 10 years.

During that time, Orquidea has spoken at the NAAP Conference multiple times—both virtually and in person—and has played a key role in creating valuable international contacts and collaborative opportunities for NAAP.

NAAP congratulates Orquidea on her outstanding tenure as President of NZSDRT. It has been an honor to collaborate with her over the past decade and to witness firsthand her dedication, vision, and ability to bring people together.
